Meet Frankie! 🐾

This tiny little Italian Greyhound came in for his vaccination and was quite possibly the cutest little patient we’ve had in our hands! 🥹

Frankie was so teeny, he practically fit in the palm of our hands. 🥰

Safe to say, we were all a little bit obsessed! 💚

Bird flu is making headlines, so Better Homes & Gardens asked Greencross Vets what it means for our pets.

Greencross Vets veterinarian Dr Nina shares practical advice to help pet parents understand the risks and take simple precautions.

“Bird flu can infect all mammals, so dogs, cats, rabbits and ferrets can all be infected.”

From avoiding contact with sick or dead wildlife to keeping cats indoors and dogs on a leash around wildlife, a few simple steps can help reduce exposure.

Ziggy came in for his castrate last week! 🐶💙 He was just too cute to resist, so naturally, he spent most of the day getting cuddles from the team! 🥰

🖤 A majestic visitor who never should have needed a trip to the vet.

This beautiful black swan was found with a fishing hook stuck in its mouth - a painful and completely preventable injury caused by discarded fishing gear.

Removing the hook required a general anaesthetic, along with pain relief to keep this feathered patient comfortable while we treated them. 🦢

A reminder to all anglers: please take your fishing line, hooks and tackle home with you or use a designated disposal bin. The Victorian Fisheries Authority advises that old fishing line should be placed in bins, or if there are no bins available, taken home, cut up and disposed of in general waste. Their Seal the Loop program also provides dedicated bins for unwanted fishing line, hooks, netting and rope. (VFA)

Discarded fishing gear can cause entanglement, injury and even death to wildlife. A few extra seconds to dispose of your gear properly can make a huge difference. 💔

🐾✨ Stella’s surgery success! ✨🐾

Sweet 11-year-old Stella recently underwent an emergency cystotomy with us to remove bladder stones. 🩺💗

After her procedure and a little time to recover, Stella is now doing amazingly well so far and almost back to being her happy self! 🥰🐶

We’re so pleased to see this beautiful girl feeling comfortable and healthy again. 💕

Everyone meet Rossi, the 7 year old Huski & Stella, the 6 year old Shih Tzu!
This dynamic duo were recently adopted by one of our longtime clients! However it seemed more like they chose their new owners, gravitating to the family immediately. They are so lucky to have been welcomed into a loving home and have settled in fantastically! Rossi is a cool calm fella & Stella is the happiest little darling!

Now let’s talk OBESITY.
Obesity is a serious problem in animals and can predispose them to a range of different health problems such as diabetes mellitus, cardiovascular disease, joint stress, cancer, tumors and many more.
It is caused by animals eating more calories than they need, the extra calories are then stored as body fat. While there are other factors that can contribute to obesity that we don’t have control over, we can control the amount they eat and their exercise levels.

Rossi is about to begin his weight loss journey, originally weighing in at 40kg, we’re aiming to get him down to an ideal 26-28kg.
He has started his new diet on Hills Metabolic, sticking to a strict feeding guide and exercise plan we should be seeing those kilos drop like flies!
When we have patients on a weight loss plan, clients keep up with regular check ins with our weight loss Specialist – Sammy, which help us track progress and adjust the plan as we go!
Already to date he has lost 1.5kg which is amazing!! We will be cheering him on as he continues to reach his goal weight.
