Meet Frankie! 🐾

This tiny little Italian Greyhound came in for his vaccination and was quite possibly the cutest little patient we’ve had in our hands! 🥹

Frankie was so teeny, he practically fit in the palm of our hands. 🥰

Safe to say, we were all a little bit obsessed! 💚

Congratulations to Natasha! Tash received the award for ‘2026 Nurse Mentor of the Year’. We are incredibly proud of her for this well deserved achievement. She is an integral part of Greencross Caloundra and the team would be lost without her!

Bird flu is making headlines, so Better Homes & Gardens asked Greencross Vets what it means for our pets.

Greencross Vets veterinarian Dr Nina shares practical advice to help pet parents understand the risks and take simple precautions.

“Bird flu can infect all mammals, so dogs, cats, rabbits and ferrets can all be infected.”

From avoiding contact with sick or dead wildlife to keeping cats indoors and dogs on a leash around wildlife, a few simple steps can help reduce exposure.

🖤 A majestic visitor who never should have needed a trip to the vet.

This beautiful black swan was found with a fishing hook stuck in its mouth - a painful and completely preventable injury caused by discarded fishing gear.

Removing the hook required a general anaesthetic, along with pain relief to keep this feathered patient comfortable while we treated them. 🦢

A reminder to all anglers: please take your fishing line, hooks and tackle home with you or use a designated disposal bin. The Victorian Fisheries Authority advises that old fishing line should be placed in bins, or if there are no bins available, taken home, cut up and disposed of in general waste. Their Seal the Loop program also provides dedicated bins for unwanted fishing line, hooks, netting and rope. (VFA)

Discarded fishing gear can cause entanglement, injury and even death to wildlife. A few extra seconds to dispose of your gear properly can make a huge difference. 💔

🎣 Fish responsibly. Dispose responsibly. Protect our wildlife. A big thanks for the wildlife careers for bringing this amazing swan in and thanks to our team for helping 🫶🏼

They don’t always show you something’s wrong… 🐾

Kidney disease is one of the most common conditions in cats - especially as they get older - and the early signs can be easy to miss.

Things like drinking more water, subtle weight loss, or just seeming a little “off” can actually be your cat’s way of telling you something isn’t right.

The good news?Early detection can make a real difference to their quality of life.

If you’ve ever wondered what to look for, how it’s diagnosed, or what treatment involves - we’ve broken it all down for you.

🐶 Patient of the Week 🐕
Huckleberry Finn takes the coveted patient of the week award. He was the bravest boy coming back in for his Stage 2 of his Dental procedure with Dr Daniel. So brave that Dr Louise showcased her excellent drawing abilities and drew the cutest Huckleberry Finn Pug!

Did you know that sometimes your dog or cat requires a second procedure to extract additional teeth so that we can ensure they recover safely from their General Anaesthesia. Brachycephalic breeds such as French Bulldogs and Pugs are at an increased risk of anaesthetic complications so we always take every precaution to make sure your furry loved ones make it home safely
