We are looking for a 4th junior animal attendant to join our team. Work would include 2 afternoons per week afterschool 3:30-5pm and 1/2 or 2/3 Saturdays 8am-12noon;
Full day shifts available during holidays
Workload includes but is not limited to:
- cleaning cages, water bowls and litter boxes
- walking/ exercising dogs
- hydrobathing dogs
- feeding and checking water levels of boarding animals, clinic cats and in patients
- practice hygiene (sweeping, mopping, emptying bins etc), laundering of animals bedding, and surgical drapes.
- completion of patient and daily check sheets- to ensure all duties are done
- assisting vets and nurses with holding patients for examinations, nail clips etc
- growth into some reception and admin tasks and surgery assistance tasks
Our ideal candidate:
- year 10 or 11 (so there’s scope for you to stay a few years before uni or end of school life). Potential to stay on after school for someone looking into a vet nurse career (not essential). Mature year 9 students welcome to apply.
- must be punctual and reliable - know your shifts and attend on time (not negotiable)
- possess good written and verbal communication skills
- eager to learn and contribute to our team
- has attention to detail to patient care, patient needs and duty completion.
- be able to work in a sometimes busy and fast paced environment
Please note: we can work shifts around your family holidays but please do not apply if you go away every / most school holidays or play sport most Saturday mornings.
