⚠️ PARVOVIRUS ALERT: BUNBURY AREA ⚠️
We have been advised by RSPCA WA inspectors that parvovirus cases are increasing again in the Bunbury area.
Parvovirus is highly contagious and can be fatal, particularly for puppies and dogs that are unvaccinated or have not completed their full vaccination course.
Please help protect dogs in our community:
🐾 Check that your dog’s vaccinations are current
🐾 Keep unvaccinated or partially vaccinated puppies at home
🐾 Avoid dog parks and other high-traffic dog areas with vulnerable puppies
🐾 Do not allow dogs to share bowls, toys or equipment with unfamiliar dogs
🐾 Remember that the virus can be carried between locations on shoes, clothing and equipment
🐾 Do not move an unwell dog between homes or properties
Symptoms may include vomiting, diarrhoea, lethargy, weakness, loss of appetite and dehydration.
If your dog or puppy becomes unwell, isolate them from other dogs and contact your veterinary clinic immediately. Please call before arriving so the clinic can put suitable infection-control measures in place.
Early veterinary treatment can make a significant difference. Please share this warning with dog owners throughout the Bunbury area.
