Willow had a play with kids Violet and Fonzie (green boy) at the offlead area at Dogswest today while poor Mika was staying dry as she needed to go back in the ring. Fonzie popped down to check out what his sisters get up to most weekends and while it all looked very exciting he wasn't convinced about the grooming aspect 😆

A couple of weeks ago I headed over to Brisbane for the 21st Cocker Spaniel National Show Judged by Mr David Todd (UK).

Mostly I was there to spectate and socialise but I had the absolute privilege of handling Wesley (CH Kimkiera Who Dares Wins) in the Veteran Class (7+ years). At nearly 10 years old Wesley went on to win Veteran in Show against some tough competition! 🏅

Wesley is the sire to our puppies born earlier this year and it was wonderful to meet him and take him for a stroll around the ring. He is just the sweetest soul and as soon as you step into the show ring he's the consummate professional. He's a credit to Melissa, his breeder and owner and is in incredible shape for an old man 😉

I now know where Mika gets her natural showmanship from 💕

It is with a lot of joy in my heart that we officially announce Willow's retirement from the show ring. 💕

For my very first show dog, to say that she exceeded expectations is an understatement. From the moment Willow landed in Perth she's been teaching us, not the other way around, and anyone that's had the pleasure of standing next to us in the show ring knows, standing still is not her most favourite thing. 😆

I could not be more grateful for the many judges that have admired and awarded her over the last few years and especially Denise who bred our special girl. Every BOB, Class in group or show meant the absolute world as a new exhibitor.

Rest assured Willow will not be resting on her laurels. Our focus will pivot to her favourite things, being scentwork and tricks, as well as the odd grooming competition and utilitsing her luscious coat to educate other groomers in the way of the spaniel.

We have 2 of her beautiful girls Mika and Violet continuing her work in the show ring and all 7 puppies enthusiastically spreading her zest for life with everyone they meet 🩷

Mika and Willow had a long day at the Bunbury shows yesterday with Willow picking up 2 Best of Breeds and Mika having ball as usual strutting her stuff. Highlight of the day though had to be the visit from Blue boy, now Soldier. Soldier's human brothers loved meeting his mum and sister 🥰

Big weekend for the Strathallon girls this weekend. Mika and Violet are still treating the show ring like their own personal playground but they are maturing nicely and took turns getting picked by the judge. Willow came away with an Australian Bred in group 🎉 not bad for a mum of 4 month olds.

💜Violet is a little firecracker and reminds me so much of her mother, Jody is doing a fabulous job with her 😍

Mika topped her class again today against 2 other baby girls but honestly the real star of today is Soldier, (formerly blue boy) frolicking through the forest at 3 months old with all the sounds and smells and not a care in the world. His owners wanted a bomb proof adventure dog and that's exactly what they got. It makes me so proud seeing these puppies out and about doing what cockers do 🥰

Yesterday was Mika and Violet's debut in the show ring! Both girls went in with confidence for days and I couldn't be prouder of how they did. Mika pulled out all the stops and managed a baby puppy in group for her very first champ show against stiff competition 🎉🥇

We are super excited to run on this special little lady, with looks from her dad and drive from her mum we know we're in for a fun and exciting time 🥰
