🐾 TRUTHFUL THURSDAY 🐾

THINK YOUR DOG DOESN'T NEED GROOMING? THINK AGAIN.

Some grooming myths just won't go away...

❌ “My dog doesn't need brushing because they have short hair.”
Short-coated dogs still shed, collect dirt and benefit from regular skin and coat checks.

❌ “My dog doesn't smell, so they're clean.”
Odour isn't the only measure of hygiene. Ears, teeth, paws, skin and coat all need attention.

❌ “Shaving keeps every dog cooler.”
Not necessarily. A dog's coat can provide protection from sun and the environment. Shaving should be based on the individual dog's coat, condition and welfare needs.

❌ “A few mats aren't a big deal.”
Mats can become tight against the skin, trapping moisture and debris and causing discomfort.

❌ “Grooming is just about making them look pretty.”
Absolutely not.

✨ Grooming is maintenance, comfort, hygiene and observation.

And sometimes, during a groom, we spot something that deserves a closer look by a veterinarian.

🐾 Beautiful is a bonus. Healthy and comfortable comes first.

FEATURED FRIDAY | ME, BEHIND PIMP MY PAWS

This week’s Featured Friday is a little different… because it’s about me.

I didn’t start Pimp My Paws with a big team, a fancy salon or everything figured out.

I started with a love for dogs, a willingness to learn, and a determination to create something that was different.

From teaching myself, learning through experience, working with different breeds and personalities, making plenty of mistakes and constantly improving… to building Pimp My Paws Group Co into the business it is today.

What started as an idea has grown into so much more.

🐾 Grooming & Styling
🐾 Pet Care
🐾 Pick-up & Drop-off
🐾 Products & Treats
🐾 Education
🐾 Events & Experiences
🐾 And now, an ever-growing multi-service business

And one of the moments I’m most proud of?

🏆 Being recognised as Best Pet Spa in Western Australia in 2026.

That award represents far more than a title to me. It represents the hours, the learning, the setbacks, the persistence and every dog that has trusted me along the way.

I’m still learning.
I’m still growing.
And I’m definitely not finished yet.

My goal has always been simple:

Create a better experience for dogs and their owners — where quality, welfare, trust and a little bit of luxury come together.

This is only the beginning.

Thank you to every client, every
dog and every person who has supported me from the start. ❤️

From where I started… to where we’re going next.

🐾 WELLNESS WEDNESDAY

5 THINGS YOUR DOG'S BODY CAN TELL YOU — THAT YOU MIGHT MISS

Think you know your dog's health signs? Here are a few less obvious clues worth knowing...

👃 1. A SUDDEN CHANGE IN SMELL
Not just bad breath! A new unusual smell from the ears, skin, paws or coat can sometimes indicate an underlying problem.

🐾 2. CONSTANT PAW LICKING
A little grooming is normal. Repeated licking can sometimes be associated with irritation, allergies, pain or something stuck between the toes.

🦷 3. DROPPING FOOD
If your dog suddenly starts dropping kibble, chewing differently or avoiding hard treats, don't automatically blame fussiness. Mouth or dental discomfort can be a reason.

😴 4. "THEY'RE JUST GETTING OLD"
Less enthusiasm for walks, difficulty getting up or suddenly avoiding stairs shouldn't always be dismissed as ageing. Changes in mobility deserve attention.

🍑 5. SCOOTING ISN'T ALWAYS "WORMS"
Scooting can have several causes, including irritation around the rear, skin problems or a**l gland issues. Persistent scooting is worth discussing with your vet.

🔎 THE GROOMER'S GOLDEN RULE

During grooming, we see your dog's skin, coat, ears, paws and body up close — sometimes noticing something you may not see at home.

We're not vets, and we don't diagnose.

But we can tell you when something looks different and recommend that you have it checked.

🐾 Early awareness = better care.

🐾 TUESDAY TIPS | DOG HYGIENE 🐾

A clean pup is a happy pup — but good hygiene is about much more than smelling fresh! ✨

Here are our top hygiene tips to help keep your dog comfortable, healthy and looking their best:

🛁 BATHING
Use a quality dog-specific shampoo and always rinse thoroughly. Make sure your pup is completely dry, especially around skin folds.

🪥 TEETH
Regular tooth brushing with dog-safe toothpaste can help maintain good dental hygiene and fresh breath.

👂 EARS
Check ears regularly for redness, discharge, unusual odour or irritation. Keep them clean and dry, especially after swimming.

🪮 COAT CARE
Regular brushing removes loose hair, dirt and debris while helping you spot mats, ticks, lumps or skin changes early.

🐾 PAWS & NAILS
Check between paw pads, wipe dirty paws after walks and keep nails at a suitable length.

🍑 REAR-END HYGIENE
Long coats can collect dirt and debris. Regular checks and appropriate trimming can help keep this area clean and comfortable.

🛏️ CLEAN THEIR BELONGINGS
Don't forget bedding, blankets, collars, harnesses, bowls and toys!

⚠️ REMEMBER: Persistent itching, bad odour, ear problems, excessive licking, sores or unusual skin changes should be checked by your veterinarian.

✨ Grooming isn't just about looking good — it's part of responsible pet care.
