πΎ Our Approach to Grooming πΎ
One question we occasionally get asked is whether we use Groomer's Helpers or other restraint devices during grooming.
At Soggy Doggy Pet Wash, we prefer to focus on patience, gentle handling, building trust, and working at a pace that helps dogs feel comfortable and secure.
While restraint devices are used by some groomers as a safety tool, they are not something we choose to use as part of our regular grooming approach. In our experience, many dogs do not enjoy being heavily restrained and can become more stressed when they feel unable to move naturally.
For some dogs, excessive restraint may contribute to fear, anxiety, defensive behaviours, or increased reactivity during the grooming process. This is one of the reasons we prefer a gentle, low-stress approach wherever possible.
We believe pet owners should feel comfortable asking their groomer questions about the grooming process, including what restraint methods are used, why they are used, and how their dog is handled during appointments.
This post is not intended to criticise other groomers. Every groomer has their own methods and safety protocols. We simply believe that pet owners should be informed and able to make decisions that best suit their dog's individual needs.
Every dog is different, and their welfare will always come first. Our goal is to provide a calm, positive grooming experience that helps build confidence and trust over time.
