Getting back in the saddle after having babies… 🐴❤️
Nobody really tells you about this part.
You have a baby, you recover, you spend months (or years) putting everyone else first… and then one day you look at your horse and think, “Right. I’m ready to ride again.”
Except… you’re not quite the same rider you were before. 😂
Your core strength has disappeared.
Your balance feels different.
Your legs don’t have the strength they used to.
Your confidence has taken a little knock.
And that lovely little bounce you once had in the saddle?
Yeah… she left with your youth. 😂
You find yourself riding a little more cautiously. Thinking a little more. Questioning things you never used to question.
And then there’s the realisation that you’re not 18 anymore.
You can’t just fall off, get up, dust yourself off and jump straight back on like nothing happened. Your body has opinions now. Your hips have opinions. Your back DEFINITELY has opinions. 😂
But here’s the thing…
We don’t have to be the riders we were before babies.
We can become better riders in a different way.
We can learn to trust our horses again.
Build our strength back up.
Work on our balance.
Regain our confidence.
Laugh at ourselves when things don’t go perfectly.
And celebrate the little wins.
Because getting back in the saddle isn’t just about riding a horse again.
It’s about finding a little piece of yourself that got put on the back burner while you were busy growing humans and raising babies.
So here’s to the mums getting back on.
The mums who are a little stiffer.
A little more cautious.
A little less coordinated. 😂
The mums who don’t bounce like they used to.
The mums who need a mounting block now.
The mums who get sore after a walk around the paddock.
The mums who are rebuilding their confidence one ride at a time.
We’re still riders.
Maybe we’re not the riders we were 10 years ago.
But we’re mums now.
And honestly?
That’s pretty bloody impressive too. ❤️🐴
