Capricorn Animal Aid CAA provides care and attention (including veterinary care, shelter and food) to unwanted, stray, neglected and abused animals.

Capricorn Animal Aid Organisation (CAA) is an organisation meeting the needs of abandoned & unwanted dogs & cats in the Rockhampton, Central QLD area for over 20 years CAA does not have a shelter or shop you can visit. All animals are 'fostered' by generous and caring volunteers who provide a home and lots of love to the animals in their care until they find new human companions to share their liv

🐾 Adoption day Cancelled 🐾

Unfortunately with Father’s Day falling on the first Sunday of the month we have decided to cancel the adoption day at Pet Stock on Sunday.

Our volunteers will be also spread thinly between the Pet Expo on Saturday and the Father’s day raffle on Sunday.

Oscar (the Tabby) is very affectionate. He loves company, lives for a cuddle, and is happiest curled up beside his favourite people or getting a treat. He's incredibly sweet-natured and loves being part of whatever you're doing. Once he's used to you he's the floppiest, dangliest, snuggliest cat and you can pick him up and carry him around for ages. He's great with children and dogs. I'm not sure how he'd go with other cats apart from Minion though. He is fine with visitors and new people but you'd most likely find him hiding away for a while.
Minion (the Black cat) is a true gentleman. He's a little more independent than Oscar and prefers affection on his own terms, but once he trusts you, he's a wonderfully loyal companion. He loves to be in the room with you and sometimes he'll come for a knead on your chest. He's also very tolerant and gentle around children and dogs making him a calm presence in a family home. He's more unbothered by strangers and visitors than Oscar. He loves to play though, and takes it very seriously getting this intenseness about him when there's a string to follow or chase down.

Assisted rehoming is an opportunity for CAA to assist owners needing to rehome their pet in the absence of an available foster home.

Please be aware that as this is an assisted rehoming and the cat is not currently in the care of CAA.

Upon successful adoption through CAA, we will ensure the cat is:

💛 Flea/worming treatment
💙 Microchipped
💛 Desexed

CAA cannot accept financial responsibility for any health issues that may arise once adopted.

Asha was very quickly adopted after being advertised. She has gone to a family who adopted from CAA previously and were looking for a 2nd dog to add to the family and grow up with their children.

Asher aka "Sushi" named because her colours are like a nori roll according to our 7 year old. Shes a sweetheart that loves cuddles and a sleep in a laundry basket in the sun.
She’s starting to show her personality and has a stubborn dachshund streak in her.

Hi, I’m Zahla, a sweet and gentle young girl who is looking for a family to call my own.

I have a calm and friendly nature and can be a little timid when I first meet people or find myself in a new situation. Once I feel comfortable, I settle in nicely and love being around my people. I can also be left home alone for a few hours during the day without any issues.

I’m good with other dogs and tend to be quite submissive. I enjoy having canine company and am happy to share my space with other dogs.

I enjoy getting out and about and travel well in the car. The beach is one of my favourite places, and I love being in and around the water. I also enjoy playing with my toys at home.

I’ll let you know when someone arrives by barking to alert you, but otherwise I’m not an overly vocal girl.

As a German Shorthaired Pointer cross, I do have a natural interest in birds and can be inclined to follow my nose when we’re out walking. My lead manners and recall are still a work in progress, so I’ll need a family who is happy to continue working with me and helping me build those skills.

I’ve met a cat through a screen door and showed very little interest, although like many dogs, I may be tempted to chase if a cat runs. Any introductions with cats would need to be carefully managed.

I’m a sweet, easy-going girl who would love a family that can give me patience, guidance and plenty of opportunities to enjoy the outdoors. I’ll make a wonderful companion for someone looking for a gentle young dog to grow alongside.

Hi, I’m Luna, a happy-go-lucky girl with a big personality and plenty of enthusiasm for life.

I’m a robust little bundle of joy who loves being outside, exploring the garden and clowning around with confidence. I have a confident and inquisitive nature, and I’m always ready to see what’s happening next.

I have a rather adorable goofy waddle when I walk, and when I get excited my whole bum joins in with my tail wag. I’m definitely not short on personality!

I love playing with my toys and am happy to spend my days outside enjoying myself. At night, I settle beautifully and sleep all night.

I absolutely love people and other dogs, and I’m great with kids too. I’m still working on my toilet training and general manners, so I’ll need a family who is happy to keep guiding me as I learn.

I’m a fun, confident and affectionate girl who would love a family that can enjoy my playful nature and give me plenty of opportunities to explore, learn and be part of everyday life.

At CAA we provide required vet work for puppies including the first 3 x monthly vaccinations and desexing at 6 months. This work needs to be done at our preferred vets in Rockhampton or Yeppoon, therefore we are only able to adopt our puppies to persons living in the local area or who visit the area regularly enough to commit to these appointments.
