Floofiness alert! Dear little Marshall is a very handsome example of the genus Pomeranianus maximus cutiepii. His captivating gaze hides a small secret, though. “He has one eye that is slightly smaller than the other and is blind in that eye, but it doesn't slow him down,” staff say. “Marshall is a friendly boy who loves to go on walks and find all the new smells."

🐶 Name: Marshall
🔢 Age: 3
♂️ Gender: Male
📍 Location: Launceston Dogs' Home
🐕 Breed: Pomeranian

We guarantee the incredibly handsome Weetbix is even healthier than the rather stodgy real thing — plus he comes with eyes so striking they can only be described as “amazeballs” and a coat that is equally so. "I call him Sweetbix as he is just so cute," a staff member says. He has had multiple teeth extracted in our care so that cost has been covered.

🐶 Name: Weetbix

🐕 Breed: Border Collie
⚖️ Weight: 22kg
💰 Adoption fee: $430

Just think: if you adopt this little lady, you could have Georgia on your mind every day. “Georgia is a sweet girl who loves to be close by ready to snuggle at every opportunity,” staff say. “She hasn't had much experience out in the world and can be a little shy at first, but she’s always willing to sit in your lap and receive some gentle pats.”

Are you ready to let a not-so-little ray of sunshine into your world? Our Rae is here to light up your life. She was a stray so her background is a mystery to us. “Rae is very outgoing and knows how to sit and will shake hands,” staff say. “She has lots of energy and enjoys walks so we think she would like an active family. She would be very loyal.”

Today, we were honoured to welcome the Premier of Tasmania, Jeremy Rockliff, to our Hobart Home.

It meant so much to show him around our facility, introduce him to some of the dogs in our care, and share more about the work our staff and volunteers do every day to improve the lives of Tasmania's dogs.

This year's Tax Appeal aims to raise $335,000 to cover vital medical costs, including external veterinary services, medications, medical supplies and equipment. We are incredibly grateful that the Tasmanian Government has committed to a one-off donation of $167,500 to help us work towards this goal.

This generous support brings us much closer, but we still need to raise a further $64,000 to ensure we can continue saying yes to dogs who need us most.

Beyond the financial support, today's visit demonstrated a commitment to understanding the realities of animal welfare in Tasmania and the challenges faced by organisations working on the frontline. Having the Premier take the time to visit our Hobart Home, learn about our work and meet the dogs whose lives depend on community support means a great deal to everyone at Dogs' Homes of Tasmania.

Here’s double Terrier trouble! Elf and Pepper are a bonded pair who must be rehomed together. Elf is a Maltese boy who weighs 5.5kg while Pepper is a female Jack Russell who weighs 9kg — she is overweight and will need humans who can resist her puppy dog eyes at dinner time. Both of them are about 11 years old. “Elf and Pepper would prefer a quiet home and lifestyle,” staff say.

🐶 Name: Elf and Pepper
🔢 Age: 11
♂️♀️ Gender: Male & Female
📍 Location: Hobart Dogs' Home
🐕 Breed: Terrier
⚖️ Weight: 9kg
💰 Adoption fee: $430 each

Here’s some news worth tipping your hat to: Tippie is described by staff as a “people person kinda dog” — could you be the person of her dreams? She’s a Labrador-Kelpie x. “Tippie is used to having an owner who was home more and only went out for short trips,” staff say. “She would suit a homebody as she doesn’t like being left alone for extended periods.”

🐶 Name: Tippie
🔢 Age: 8.5
♀️ Gender: Female
📍 Location: Hobart Dogs' Home
🐕 Breed: Labrador x
⚖️ Weight: 34kg
💰 Adoption fee: $430

What saying yes means. ❤️🐾

When Violet came to us, she was just four months old.

She was in pain, facing an uncertain future and running out of options.

Because of caring Tasmanians like you, we were able to say yes.

Violet underwent the surgery she needed, received ongoing veterinary care and spent time recovering in foster care, where she was showered with love and given the chance to simply be a puppy again.

Despite losing a leg, Violet never lost her spirit.

She healed beautifully, adapted to life on three legs with incredible resilience and reminded everyone she met that dogs don't dwell on what they've lost. They simply embrace the chance to keep moving forward.

And today? Violet has the happy future every dog deserves.

It's because Tasmanians care deeply about the welfare of dogs that we can say yes to dogs like Violet. It's because people choose to donate that we can answer the next call for help.

When a dog has nowhere else to turn, your compassion means we don't have to say no.

As a charity, we receive no government funding for this work. Everything we do is made possible by people who care deeply about dogs and want to ensure no dog in Tasmania has to suffer or be without the love and care they deserve.

❤️Please help us be there for dogs like Violet when they have nowhere else to turn. appeal.dhot.com.au

Donations of $2 or more are tax deductible, and every gift made before 30 June will help us be there for the next dog who has run out of options.

Fish is a bit of an unfortunate name, really, but we guess we can guarantee she’s fresh? Let’s face it, you could always change it to something not so, well, fishy. That would be giving Fish the finger. The Fish Cake was a stray who we think is a Border Collie-Kelpie x. “She enjoys cuddles and is a playful girl with her toys,” staff say.
