🐝 Beautiful blooms, but where are all the bees? 🌸

Spring is in full swing here in Melbourne!

With around 40 beehives nearby, you'd expect these flowers to be buzzing with activity. But surprisingly, I'm seeing fewer bees on the blossoms compared to last year.

Every season is different, and that's what makes beekeeping so interesting. 🌿🐝

To my fellow beekeepers — have you noticed the same thing this spring?

🐝👑 Getting Ready for Queen Rearing Season!

Our cell builder is looking strong, and we're busy preparing our breeder colonies for the upcoming queen rearing season.

Producing quality queen bees starts with strong, healthy colonies and careful preparation. From selecting breeder stock to managing our cell builders, every stage plays an important role in the process.

We're looking forward to another busy season at City Bees!

Stay tuned for more updates as our queen rearing progresses. 🐝💪

Night shift with the bees 🔴🐝

Working under red light helps keep the bees calmer while we get the job done after dark.

Late nights, quiet hives and plenty of work behind the scenes.

Almond pollination season is officially done 🐝🌸
Our bees are finally back home after another busy pollination season.
It’s been a big few weeks moving hives, checking colonies and getting everyone safely back from the almond farms. Now it’s time for the bees to settle in, recover and get ready for the next part of the season.
A huge job done — and always a good feeling seeing the hives back on home ground again. 🍯🐝

🐝 Almond Pollination 2026

While most people are asleep, our work is just beginning.

Long before sunrise, every hive is carefully loaded and secured for the journey ahead. Each kilometre we travel carries thousands of hardworking bees, all with one important mission – to help pollinate Australia's almond orchards.
Pollination is more than moving beehives. It's about supporting farmers, protecting food production, and working together with nature to produce the harvest that feeds families across Australia.

Every season brings long nights, early mornings, and countless hours on the road.

It's not always easy, but it's work we're proud to do.

At City Bee, we believe strong hives create strong harvests.

Because when the world sleeps... we move bees. 🐝🍯

🐝 Winter is usually our quieter season — for both us and the bees.
While the bees are taking a well-earned break, we've been busy behind the scenes updating our website with fresh photos, adding new products, and getting everything ready for the busy spring season.
We're also preparing our hives for pollination and queen bee breeding, so there's plenty happening even if it's been a little quiet on our page.
Thank you for your continued support. We can't wait to share more with you as spring arrives! 🌼🍯

🐝 Looking for Land Support Around Ringwood & Nearby Areas 🐝

As many of you know, we’ve been growing our queen breeding and beekeeping work over the years. We’re currently looking for suitable land around Ringwood and nearby areas (within roughly 10km from the city/suburban area) to help host some of our managed beehives.

Ideally we are looking for:
🌿 Around 10 acres or more
🌿 Quiet land with low traffic/activity
🌿 Long-term supportive arrangement preferred

All hives are professionally managed and maintained by us.

If you or someone you know may have suitable land and would like to support local beekeeping and pollination, please feel free to message us privately 🐝🍯

Really appreciate all the support from everyone over the years ❤️
