Two weeks is all it took to turn a relatively cheap market into a bit of an expensive one. The good news is: most supply constraints that are behind the price hikes a bit are temporary.

In most cases, we’re in between growing regions: one has finished but the other hasn’t quite got started.

Mangoes are a case in question: KPs from the Northern Territories – Darwin and Katherine – have finished, but the North Queensland regions of Bowen and Mareeba won’t start picking in earnest until late November.
However, we will have R2E2 – and they come in one size only: BIG.

Strawberries are also tight, thanks to unseasonably (really??) cool weather in Melbourne.
We will have both regular and Jumbo punnets – but they will be pricey.
You might want to focus on blueberries this week: the regular ones are under $4, but we’ll also have Jumbo (that relates to the size of the blueberry, not the punnet) which will be under $6 a punnet.

Apples are getting so tight, we may have limited or no supply of the Christmas/New Year period. Suffice to say: they will stay expensive until the new season starts.
(Royal Gala won’t start until February, and Pink Lady not until April or May).

In better news: peaches, nectarines and apricots are coming down – but for cherry prices to drop below $15/kg will require a good spell of warm and dry weather in northern Victoria. The forecast is looking good so far 🤞🤞.

In other fruit: melons are great value, citrus is good (limes are down to 75c), papaya and pineapples are cheap, but kiwi fruit will finish in a week or two.

The story in vegetables is similar: beans and peas are up, neither broccoli nor broccolini are cheap, cucumbers are up and capsicums are expensive. However, cauliflowers, cabbages of any persuasion, leafy greens, most herbs, zucchini, corn, lettuces and snacking tomatoes are good value.

Soft Plastics Recycling
Box Divvy ReSmart Initiative

National Recycling Week (10–16 November 2025) and this is the perfect time to get on board.

Box Divvy is rolling out 350 shiny new 240L wheelie bins to Hubs across NSW/ACT because soft plastics don’t belong in landfill, and we can do better.

Our 2024 Southern Highlands trial proved it: six Hubs collected 750kg of soft plastics in just a few months.

Now, thanks to a $17,235 NSW EPA grant (matched by Box Divvy), all our Hubs can join in.

Members pay nothing - just bring your scrunchable plastics to your Hub on collection day, and our drivers will whisk them away.

Partnering with ReSmart (formerly known as RecycleSmart),
all that plastic gets a new life via APR Plastics, turning it into food-grade bags and it can be recycled again.

So come on, Box Divvy community, let’s ditch the landfill, keep our planet happy, and show Australia how it’s done.

Your Hubster will let you know soon whether and when it’s available at your Hub. Please note, not every Hub will participate.

Where does your pudding come from?
Adamstown PUDDING Kitchen
https://adamstownpuddingkitchen.org.au/pages/our-story

The origins of the Adamstown Pudding Kitchen date back to 1971, when a church member turned to her grandmother’s pudding recipe to make a dessert for a church fundraiser, in thankfulness for her brother returning safely from the Vietnam War.

Since 1971 Adamstown Pudding Kitchen has been producing superb gourmet puddings famous for their moist consistency and full flavour.
Produced to an old family recipe in a modern commercial kitchen, Adamstown Pudding Kitchen uses only the finest natural Australian ingredients, where possible.

As a result of our tradition for quality products, our puddings have been recognised as one of Australia’s finest gourmet puddings.

Not only are these puddings delicious they are also excellent value.
Profits from their sales are used by the Adamstown Uniting Church to support a range of welfare and community programs in Newcastle, Australia and overseas.

There’s a Pudding for everyone:

Join us as we chat with Russell from 2 Pops Honey on the Central Coast, who shares his incredible story of resilience after losing 120 hives to the devastating Varroa mite outbreak.

Now managing around 30 hives and working closely with other local beekeepers to care for over 400 hives, he talks about how the community is rebuilding the bee population and keeping the honey flowing.

We dive deep into the fascinating world of bees - how they communicate through the “bee dance,” how their colonies operate, and what it takes to keep them healthy in the face of growing challenges.

If you’re passionate about sustainability, nature, or just love learning about these amazing creatures, this is one interview you won’t want to miss!
