Not every snake needs to be caught.

A lot of snakes people see outside are simply passing through and will move on by themselves if left alone.

We spend a lot of time helping people over the phone with:
• Snake identification
• Safety advice
• Understanding behaviour
• Deciding whether relocation is actually needed

Sometimes the safest option is simply giving the snake space to move on naturally.

But if it’s inside, around pets/kids, or you’re uncomfortable — that’s what we’re here for.

We were called out to a late-night job for this beautiful Albino Darwin Python, referred through Sunshine Coast Snake Catchers 24/7

After a full inspection, we noticed a few lumps and some scratches, possibly consistent with a cat encounter.

Given Sunny's condition (the nickname we have given him), and the fact this isn’t a species native to our area, it’s highly likely this is a lost or dumped pet.

To make sure he gets the care he needs, we transported him to the RSPCA for a full health check.

From here, they’ll carry out the appropriate assessments and work through the correct process with DETSI.

If you’ve lost an Albino Darwin Python in the Ipswich area, please contact the RSPCA or DETSI to confirm ownership. You will need to provide licence details and proof of ownership.

Just a reminder — releasing pet reptiles into the wild is illegal and incredibly dangerous for the animal. They don’t have the same survival skills as wild snakes and often don’t survive long without intervention.

If you ever find yourself unable to care for a reptile, there are safe and legal options available — reach out for help and guidance.

🚨WARNING PHOTO MAY BE GRAPHIC TO SOME🚨

A big, beautiful Coastal Carpet Python (Morelia spilota mcdowelli) A non venomous species we relocate from Ebbw Vale but this one came with a tough situation.

Unfortunately, this snake had found its way into a guinea pig enclosure and had already constricted most of them before we arrived. The neighbours were able to save one, which was a small positive in a pretty upsetting situation for the owner.

When we got there, the python was mid-meal. As hard as it is to see, we made the decision to let it finish. That way, their loss wasn’t completely wasted and the snake was able to take the food it had already worked for.

This is a good reminder that snakes aren’t being “aggressive” or cruel — they’re simply doing what they are designed to do. If there’s an easy food source, they will take it.

If you keep small animals like guinea pigs, chickens, or birds:
• Make sure enclosures are secure (solid wire, not chicken wire)
• Check for gaps or weak points
• Lock them up at night where possible
• Avoid leaving food scraps that attract rodents (which then attract snakes)

We know these situations are never easy for owners, and we really feel for those involved. Our goal is always to keep people, pets, and wildlife as safe as possible.
