Rockmelons!
Forget about watermelons - unless you're prepared to re-mortgage your house - but rockmelon prices are dropping like... a rock (pardon the pun). Not super-big, but super-sweet they are.

Warm spring weather is bringing on a LOT of veggies, including George Portelli's baby gem lettuce: he reckons there's several thousand left in this patch, and the next patch is not far behind. So make yourself a salad or two!

πŸ₯” ROLLBACK TO 1999! πŸ₯”

Remember when potatoes were $1/kg? Apparently, neither do the supermarkets! πŸ˜‚

This week, Box Divvy is bringing back 1999 prices with Washed Nadine Potatoes for just $1/kg- the exact price Woolies advertised back in August 1999.

And while Cher was singing β€œBelieve”, we’re asking you to believe in cheap spuds again! 😜

With potatoes currently abundant and growers under pressure, Box Divvy is helping move the crop while giving our members a seriously good deal.

$1/kg. 1999 prices. 2026 potatoes. πŸ₯”

Cheap as chips… before they become chips! πŸ˜‰

Ever wondered how your Box Divvy order gets from the farm to your hands? 🌱🚚πŸ₯•

One of the things I love about Box Divvy is how short and simple the journey is.
Produce is picked or supplied fresh based on member orders, brought together through Box Divvy, delivered to local Hubs, packed locally and then handed straight to you.

That shorter process can mean fresher produce, less unnecessary handling and less time sitting in storage compared with the traditional supermarket supply chain.

It also helps keep costs down- while allowing more of your food dollar to go back to the farmers and producers who actually grow and make what we eat. πŸ’š

πŸ₯š FREE-ISH RANGE EGGS? πŸ”

A little egg update, because bird flu is changing things for some of our free-range farmers.

With H5N1 detected in wild birds, free-range egg producers are temporarily allowed to keep their hens indoors for their protection while continuing to label their eggs free-range. So what's happening with Box Divvy's suppliers?

πŸ₯š Hunter Valley Eggs- Andrew has started keeping his hens indoors and is updating the cartons accordingly.

🌿 Moonbi Eggs- Daniel's hens are still roaming outside near Tamworth for now, although that may change if the risk spreads.

πŸ” Hunter Natural- David's hens live in mobile caravans that move around the paddocks with portable fencing. For now, they're continuing as usual and, quite literally, winging it! πŸ˜†

πŸ₯š Refalo Farms Julian supplies some of our barn-laid eggs and has just purchased 7,000 new chicks! 🐣 From October, he should be able to supply Box Divvy with considerably more eggs, helping keep supply steadier if H5N1 causes further disruptions.

πŸ’š The important bit: Box Divvy is talking directly with our egg farmers and keeping members updated as circumstances change.

It's a pretty good example of why knowing where our food comes from- and who produces it β€” matters. πŸ”πŸ₯šπŸŒ±
