The new building features non-slip flooring, plenty of parking, a toilet, grassy areas nearby for walking dogs, heating and cooling, separate fenced areas for both Underwater Treadmills, a treatment room for Cryotherapy, and a fenced area for Physiotherapy.

🐾 Little Man 🐾
Little Man is seeing us for hydrotherapy as part of his weight loss plan. His weight loss has been going very well, he's right on track with where we were hoping he would be after 5 weeks of hydrotherapy. His human told us that Little Man has been much more playful at home lately! Sounds like he's feeling a lot better already.

Q: How do you encourage dogs to walk on the underwater treadmill?
A: Usually it only takes 2 or 3 sessions before they know exactly what to do, but many dogs will need a little encouragement for their first session. We find most dogs are happy to work for treats, while some are more toy motivated. For dogs who prefer toys, using a special toy that they only get access to during hydrotherapy sessions can be very motivating. Charlie walks with his favourite red squeaky ball.

Q: What if my dog isn't particularly food or toy motivated?
A: Owners are encouraged to stand at the front of the underwater treadmill so your dog is walking towards you (make sure to give them lots of praise and encouragement!) If a dog needs a little more support or guidance, a staff member can get in the underwater treadmill with them. Walking on the treadmill can feel a little scary or unnatural the first time, but most dogs get used to it very quickly!

Good work Luna! ⭐️ Luna the Newfoundland has returned to hydrotherapy as part of her weight loss journey. She's been back for a month, has lost 3.3kg and her waist measurement has reduced by 5cm.

Walking on an underwater treadmill is a safe, low-impact form of exercise that helps overweight dogs burn calories while reducing strain on their joints. Hydrotherapy is only part of the solution, owners also need to be diligent about reducing the amount of calories their dog eats - Luna's owners have done a great job, I know it's hard to resist those puppy dog eyes!
