I have seen many posts questioning owners walking their dogs in the middle of the day, when the sun is directly overhead and at its hottest. Why do idiot owners continue to do this? No one seems to be able to find a good reason. Although I am tempted to voice my concerns, I hold back because of the insults that most likely would be thrown at me. Please, if you love your dog, don't drag it out on these hot days.

I can't believe the number of owner's that take their dogs out walking in the middle of the day. It is way tooooo hot!! Your dogs should be left at home, inside the house is preferable, and not out walking on the HOT Footpaths where their feet are going to fry!!! Take your shoes off and walk in your bare feet and find out what it feels like. HAVE SOME COMMON SENSE PLEASE!

Midcoast Dog Resue would like to wish everyone a very happy and prosperous 2026. We are looking forward to a new year where dogs are treated more like part of the family than disposable objects. Remember, your pets have feelings too and just want to love you unconditionally. We are lucky to have them in our life! We will continue to pick up the pieces when we can.

WE NEED YOUR HELP!!
Our beautiful permanent foster-care poodle Merlot recently had 10 teeth extracted. With our vet advising further extractions likely in 6 month's time. This amounted to a vet bill of $1450.00 which we did not expect and were unprepared for.
In more than 23 years of Dog Rescue we have never been in such an embarrassing financial situation until now.
All donations will help - even the smallest amounts add up!

We lost out gorgeous little Jazzie today at 6.30am and are heartbroken. Our sincere sympathy to Frank and Patricia and thanks for loving her and taking such wonderful care of her for all these years. We will never be able to replace her and she will always have a place in our hearts. RIP Jazzie from Wendy and her doggy family.

Snakes are everywhere! Please watch your pets carefully and make sure they are supervised at all times. Should you need to have a snake removed from your home please contact a reputable snake catcher such as REPTILE SOLUTIONS- 04 504 304 80.
There are 23 species of snake found around the mid north coast region.

Dinky is home safe and sound after her excursion over to the north shore. Vet checked and all clear. Had a bath and is resting and happy.

Dinky our 6 month old toy poodle cross terrier, mostly black with a white chest, is missing over on the North Shore. She is very scared and most probably will run if spotted. She was seen yesterday late afternoon running into the bush. Could residents please keep an eye out for her. .
She might make her way up to the houses. We are desperate and frantic with worry for her well-being. Any sightings please phone 0418 233 633. Thank you.

Santa Paws is coming to town!! He and his friendly elves will be visiting PETSTOCK PORT MACQUARIE on Saturday, 23rd November between 10am and 1pm. Bring your pets along and take your own happy snaps with Santa for $5 donation. All dogs must be on a lead when in store. Come and have some fun!!

Petstock Port Macquarie is holding its yearly National Pet Adoption day on Saturday. Midcoast Dog Rescue will be in the store between 10am and 2pm. We will be encouraging people to microchip their pets, update Pet Registry, vaccinate and protect their petd from ticks and fleas.
We have a litter of 9 Cavoodle puppies in care and will have 2 pups in store from 10am until 12pm. These puppies are 4 months old now and ready for their new homes. You are invited to come along and say hello.

I have 2 new boxes of VETMEDIN 1.25mg (50 tablets per box) that I would like to give to someone who has a DOG currently on this medication. Expiry date: March, 2025. Sadly, my little toy poodle Bertie who had a Grade 4-5 heart murmur passed away earlier this year so I no longer have any use for the tablets. Location: Port Macquarie.
