Clare Downs Performance Horses Breeding quality horses using Welsh D Cob, Connemara and Thoroughbred lines. We breed for athleticism, good conformation and excellent temperament.

Clare Downs Performance Galloway Stud was established in 2004 to meet the needs of children coming off very talented performance ponies but not wanting to make the big move to horses. We established the stud to provide quality galloways. Our thoroughbred broodmares have been specifically chosen for our breeding program as we wish to specialise in breeding Galloways with calm, trainable temperament

and correct conformation with adequate bone to be able to perform in all disciplines and areas of Equestrian Sports and recreation. We have two different breeds with our stallions, being Welsh D Cobs and Connemara as both are renowned for their jumping and dressage abilities and quiet intelligent nature. Both breeds hold a special place in our hearts and we will also be breeding purebreds of both along with our first crosses. Clare Downs Performance Galloway Stud is situated in the heart of the Porongurups only 12kms from Mt Barker Western Australia and 40 minutes from Albany. Visitors are always welcome just give us a call.

Commencing July for an experienced stud hand. Must be confidant handler of Thoroughbred Broodmares, Yearlings and Foal Handling.

Short term full time position of 3 months.

We are located in Mt Barker WA and position would suit person with own transport.

The long anticipated arrival of a very very special little man, that took some serious planning - has finally happened! An enormous thank you to everyone who made this possible!

We wish to welcome this cracking c**t out of our own born and bred littly lady Clare Downs Clonlea, by the phenomenal French Stallion Meingold Mystical Thunderbird - we couldn't be happier!

My husband Norm and 2 of his close friends lease our homebred Sax On Que from the stud - such an honest horse kind horse has been a bridesmaid since his last win by a whisker and a couple of 3rds and became a bride again today - Smiles all round! Thank you to Paul and his team and Holly for bringing him home.

So great to get a winner with one of our stable favourites Sax on Que today at Mount Barker, thanks to his loyal owners and jockey Holly Watson. Also very proud of Scream in Blue who ran a huge second in the Mount Barker cup coming from last on the corner. Big thanks to the girls at home who do all the work 🐎

All in all a very successful 2022 Perth Magic Millions Sale, with Lot 309 and our last lot for this years sale, our beautiful filly, going to Robyn Lockwood to start her new career. We are very pleased with the outcome and the homes for this years sale and look forward to watching as they both progress through this next phase of their lives!

A huge thank you to all who have made this years sales possible and for all who helped; with a special mention to TJ who has been an invaluable and integral part of their preparation, and to Isobel who has worked tirelessly throughout the entirety of their sales week.

From all of us here at Clare Downs, a big thank you to all the buyers, agents, MM, vets, and staff for another successful season. Now bring on the next seasons crop of cracking youngsters!
