💙 Buddy’s Goodbye Groom 💙
I honestly don’t know if this is Buddy’s last groom, but I do know it was one I will cherish forever.
Buddy moved away to Texas three years ago, but his owner travelled him all the way back up for this groom. And this time, I was lucky enough to have the chance to say goodbye to this beautiful, gentle soul. 🐾
He looked tired. His senses were starting to leave him, and he was much slower than the Buddy I remembered. But one thing was still very much there and that is his memory. ❤️
He remembered me.( well he seemed to) And he still absolutely lapped up every bit of his pampering.
Buddy has never liked the grooming table lifted up high so over the years I’ve always worked with him and groomed him down low where he felt comfortable.
This time was no different.
Out of the bath and straight onto the lowered table to finish what I could, but eventually we ended up on the floor where he was comfortable, tucked under the air conditioner, taking our time.
And the very last touches were done with Buddy resting his head on my legs. ❤️
Just him, me, and a quiet moment together as we chatted. ( well I chatted and he listened)
There was no rushing this groom. Just gentle hands, lots of pats, plenty of love and soaking up every last minute I could with him.
After more than 30 years of working with dogs, there are some dogs who leave a little paw print on your heart.
Buddy is definitely one of those dogs.
He may never know just how much this grooming session has meant to me.
But I do.
if this was our goodbye, and Buddy never returns for a grooming session with me. Buddy I want to thank you for letting me be the one to give you one last little bit of pampering. Thank you for remembering me and thank you for trusting me with you all these years.
I will cherish this groom more than you will ever know. 💙
You were, and always will be, one very special gentle soul.
