With spring comes plenty of adorable baby hares! But if you come across a little hare on its own, please leave it where you found it. 💚

Baby hares are born fully furred with their eyes open and are designed to spend time alone while mum stays away to keep them safe. Finding one by itself doesn’t mean it has been abandoned.

🚫 Please don’t pick them up or take them home.
👀 WAIT AND SEE — mum may be nearby and will return when it’s safe.

If you’re concerned that a baby hare is genuinely injured or in danger, contact a wildlife rescue organisation or your local veterinary clinic for advice. 🐰💚

Meet Dr Tatum, the heart behind Wide Bay Veterinary Services! 🩺🐶🐱

Originally from Canada, Dr Tatum moved to Australia as a child and went on to graduate from the University of Queensland in 2012. She has been caring for pets across the Fraser Coast since 2013, bringing years of experience and a genuine passion for veterinary medicine.

Dr Tatum previously worked in mixed practice, caring for both large and small animals, but now focuses exclusively on small animals. She loves the variety that veterinary medicine brings and enjoys both medical and surgical cases.

Her favourite part of being a vet? 💚 Being able to provide animals with comfort and help give them the best quality of life possible.

We’re so lucky to have Dr Tatum as part of the Wide Bay Veterinary Services family! 🐾

Did you know… German Shorthaired Pointers have webbed feet! 🐾🌊

Yep, those energetic, athletic paws aren’t just for running! Their slightly webbed feet help them swim and move through water, which makes sense considering GSPs were bred as versatile hunting dogs that could work both on land and in water. 🦆🐕

They’re also known for their incredible stamina, intelligence and love of being active — basically, a GSP is always ready for their next adventure! 😂❤️
