Perth Royal Show Results 🎉🎡🎆

What a week! 🤩

I think I have recovered now 😅😴
New pavilion, new breeders, it was an exciting show with Diego Valley entering 4 does and 9 kids 🤩

Now before I list our results, there is one competition I am absolutely gutted to not have an entry in and that was the 24 hour production from Vahallas Gate Creme Chamomile or affectionately known as Cameo, our milking goat at home. I made a mistake! Right at the end of milking her, the bucket tipped on to the floor! Safe to say I was pretty disappointed in myself. A big shoutout to Donna from Giradi Goats for being there for me and helping with the goats after I "spilt the milk' 😅

2026 results

🐐 Nigerian Dwarf doe kids Under 2 months - 🥇 1st Diego Valley Kabuki (19 entries)

🐐 Nigerian Dwarf buck kid up to 3 months - 🏅 5th Diego Valley Rocksalt (14 entries)

🐐 Best udder any breed First lactation- 🏅 Diego Valley Gracie (only Nigerian Dwarf to place) (21 entries)

🐐 24 hour production - Milk Award Q* - 🏅Diego Valley Bluegum (Butterfat 5.5%)

Super proud of the team! Kabuki (daughter of Cameo) definitely putting a smile back on my face after the milk mishap in the morning 🥰

A big thankyou to Darling Scarp Pygmy and Nigerian Dwarf Goats. Diego Valley Kabuki and Rocksalt are sired by Myall Forest Salt and Pepper. Not only has Peppa produced winning kids, their temperaments are second to none 🥰

Congratulations to all the other breeders on their results and hardwork getting to the Royal. Some travelled big distances and its always lovely to catch up with goat breeding friends that you dont get to see very often 🤗

Excited for next year already! However I have promised Jim that next year we will be taking less goats 😆

Thanks to everyone at the Dairy Goat Section for a great fun filled week of goat info interviews, wheelbarrow rides, laughs, no sleep and spending time with what we love most, GOATS! 🐐

New Additions 😍🐐🐐

A full day of hoof trimming and lessons on last Saturday with gail force winds, I was hoping Bluegum might hold on until I got home. However, Bluegum decided at 149 days it was the right time 🤗

Popping in after lunch to check, finding 2 strong, bubbly and dry doe kids bouncing in the shelter with Bluegum by her side 🩷🩷 It really is remarkable how good they are on their feet at only a couple of hours old!

Textbook from Bluegum and enjoying her newest additions 🥰

Triplets for maiden doe, Gracie 😍

15 hours after Cameo kidded on Friday, Gracie went away to the top shelter near the house and kidded triplets! (A phone call from Jim whilst I was feeding the horses of course!)

2 boys and the tiniest doe kid I have ever seen! Weighing 920g! ✨️ However she is the best drinker and thriving with her brothers 🥰

Next to kid 😍 Cameo definitely had us wondering what time she was going to go. After her ligaments completey softened yesterday morning, she was monitored throughout the day and night. One tired midwife 😴

Welcoming 1 buck and 1 doe kid around 2.30am this morning on 147 days 🐐🐐

I really thought Cameo had more than 2 but turns out they were just big kids! About 3x times the size of Aurora's 😯
Dam - Vahallas Gate Creme Chamomile 🐐
Sire - Myall Forest Salt & Pepper 🐐
Kids are 81.25% Nigerian Dwarf 🥰

We are all very excited to have Cameo back in milk, however we will wait another few weeks to let her and her babies settle 🤗

Next up Cameo's bestfriend and maiden doe, Gracie 🤩

31/08/2026

Starting off kidding a little sooner than I imagined! I thought I had another 5 days up my sleeve 😅

Aurora kidding on a lovely warm winters day, Sunday August 30th. Welcoming 2 lovely purebred Nigerian Dwarf boys 💙💙
Both boys were drinking in under 5 minutes of being born. Strong, healthy boys ✨️
