🦅⚠️ Avian Influenza (H5 Bird Flu) Has Been Detected in Australia.

Recent detections of highly pathogenic avian influenza (H5N1) in wild birds in Australia have prompted increased biosecurity measures and surveillance across the country. Everyone can play a role in helping protect our wildlife, poultry industry, and communities.

🐦 How You Can Help:
✅ Do not touch sick, injured, or dead wild birds.
✅ Keep dogs on leash and prevent pets from interacting with wild birds or carcasses.
✅ Report sick or dead birds to local authorities or wildlife organisations. Report to Emergency Animal Disease Hotline on 1800675888.
✅ Practice good hygiene after visiting parks, wetlands, beaches, or areas where birds gather.
✅ If you keep backyard chickens or birds, restrict contact with wild birds and maintain good biosecurity.
✅ Never feed wild birds by hand.

🦢 Australia is home to many unique bird species that could be vulnerable to this virus, so early reporting and good biosecurity are essential.
