stern Australia and the UK we have the upper hand on many studs due to first hand European experience in this industry and many years with reproductive breeding techniques too. We are currently the only stud in Western Australia that offer live cover to all of our Warmblood stallions with no exceptions, as we believe that a stallion should be able to do both. That is ‘work’ and compete. For aging mares and mares who have reproductive issues, a live cover can in some instances be the only way she will conceive.

Two successful handovers

I said farewell to the very special Arabian c**t Ferrari GW who head back to his wheatbelt home yesterday
Today little WP Dublin ( Daisy) went off to her new rider, in preparation for some breed shows ahead.

It can be quite daunting for owners to get on and have the first ride at the trainers & I’m very mindful not to push this if they’re not keen to.
Instead I offer ongoing support if required.
However today I think Daisy’s rider did amazingly and I’ve heard glowing reports from Ferraris owner too.
Always a nice feeling of accomplishment

Now to get the other two chestnut fillies finished for their owners & then a few of my own !

A little update as we head into the stud season
My very own “McDreamy” aka Zesuan is having a little lump removed from his cannon bone next week. It appeared after the damn fire and a recent xray has revealed it is a sequestrum ( tiny fragment of bone usually caused by some sort of a trauma to the bone) which needs to be removed.

Whilst he heals he obviously won’t be available for collections.

However never fear …. For those breeders who cannot wait, we have frozen doses ready & waiting with a per dose & per service purchase options with a lfg.

Zesuans frozen semen is excellent quality and has achieved pregnancies for fairly complex breeding mares using his usual 3 straw dose. In fact a pregnancy has been achieved using just 2 straws.

Semen can be shipped nationwide from Murray vets in WA

The Knabstrupper riddle continues…

This post is a big thankyou to the incredible humans who volunteer their time behind the scenes running our chosen breed associations.
In this particular case I feel I need to thank Claire from the Australian Warmblood Horse Association (AWHA) Ltd who has gone above and beyond.

Despite Claire’s best efforts of bringing the discussion to the table as to whether the AWHA committee will finally accept the Danish Knabstrupper as a AWHA recognised Warmblood breed; along with Heike the owner of the Phoenix von Asgard PC, unfortunately it was a NO from the committee & not the result we’d hoped for.

A commendable effort from both to get the subject spoken about again.

From recollection I was going to forward my thoughts on this too for discussion, but sadly it was just prior to The Fire and I’d forgotten about it until today 🥺🤦‍♀️

Moving forward for anyone interested who perhaps didn’t know this ( I didn’t until recently) … my understanding is :-

AWHA - Currently as it stands the Knabstrupper is accepted as a WB Derivative only in a specific section of the AWHA stud book. That is what is written on registrations.

ACE- For full Knabstrupper Warmblood acceptance from horses that obviously meet the ACE Warmblood criteria, ACE Group are the ones to use.

Chilli is of course part of my little “Madjic Flute” family, the second born sired by HG Salzburg out of my favourite 13.3hh sports pony mare PC Madjic Flute ( Highfield Vivaldi 🇬🇧)

He sold as a weanling to QLD were he was produced for dressage initially and also passed his ACE Stallion Licensing.
I’m very proud of Chilli and thankful he has become very much the fun competitive sports pony I bred him for.

HG Salzburg is available this season via chilled, fresh & frozen 🤔😊💕… just saying !

For those of you who may be interested, I thought I’d share the supplements I used for Sunny during and straight after his near death experience.
Remembering he had very little swallow reflex for about a week after leaving ICU , it was really a case of “ do or die “ so I had nothing to lose by trying !

Healthy brain is linked to healthy gut right 🤔… so I hammered the Dynavite Microbiome Support.
After a lot of googling I stumbled across KER Nano -E. The research showed it could help horses with neurological issues & symptoms ( amongst other things) so off I went to get some bottles of that.
The EO-3 oil I have recently used for fertility benefits and although I can’t prove it was soley this that produced Salzburgs insane motility for his frozen collections, it’s got to be a good thing & going by how everyone is blooming on it I’m guessing something is working well

So my little advice would be to set your mares up this season and consider investing in these products

I have absolutely no affiliation with KER infact I don’t usually go down the supplement rabbit hole.

However with Sunny’s dire situation I was up for trying anything and it just so happens that both of these KER products are the gold standard for gaining top tier fertility for breeding mares & stallions too . If you jump onto their FB there is a great video explaining in more detail.

And on another note, I do hope the support for the stallions continues into the stud season and you’ll consider using one over your mare. They all bring a lot to the table across the board of disciplines and rider levels . And of course they’re right on your doorstep in Perth !
