Last week Dr Anika headed off on maternity leave! 💕

While we’re so excited for Anika and her family as they prepare to welcome their newest addition, we’re certainly going to miss having her around for the next few months!

We hope she manages to enjoy a little well-earned rest before the new arrival. Wishing her and her family all the very best for the exciting weeks ahead. We can’t wait to meet the little one! ❤️👶

🐎💨 From show jumping to barrel racing! It was certainly a busy weekend for us as sponsors!

We were thrilled to be involved in the 2026 WA ABHA State Championships, hosted by Denim & Lace Barrel Racing in Gingin.

We sponsored the 14 & Under 18 Rug, and it’s always lovely to have the opportunity to encourage young riders as they develop their skills and passion for their sport.

Congratulations to everyone who competed over the weekend! A special thank you to the Denim & Lace team for all the time and effort that goes into organising an event like this.

🏆 What a fantastic weekend of show jumping!

We were delighted to be Silver Sponsors of this year’s Kalamunda Pharmacy Patron’s Cup Festival, hosted by WASJA.

A huge congratulations to Leon Carroll, who took out both 1st and 2nd place in our sponsored Ascot Equine Veterinarians 130cm Open class, before going on to win the prestigious Patron’s Cup! What an incredible weekend! 👏🐴

Congratulations to all the competitors, and a big thank you to the WASJA committee, volunteers and organisers for putting together another wonderful event.

Happy International Veterinary Nurse and Technicians Day! 🐴🩺

Yesterday we took the opportunity to celebrate our incredible team of veterinary nurses, trainee nurses, nurse assistants, stablehands and night attendants!

Behind every vet is an amazing team of people who keep everything running. From early mornings to late nights, routine care to emergencies, our team goes above and beyond every single day.

Their hard work, dedication, compassion and teamwork are what make Ascot Equine Vets what it is. Quite simply, we couldn’t do what we do without them! ❤️

We were delighted to support the Gidgegannup Dressage Club’s Golden Oldies Dressage Competition last weekend — celebrating riders over 50 who are showing there’s certainly no limit on doing what you love!

A huge congratulations to Paula Zammit and Honeybee, winners of the Ascot Equine Vets Novice 2.1 Over 50yrs class. 🏆💙

Congratulations also to all the competitors and winners across the day. What a fantastic celebration of horses, riding and keeping active in the saddle.

We’re so happy to see little Peanut back on track! 🫏💚

He may be sporting a slightly patchy new hairstyle after all his ultrasound exams 😆, but it’s wonderful to see him looking so bright and happy again.

Sometimes our smallest patients need a little help adjusting to life on the outside. 🐴🤎

Here is Dr Ebony performing a procedure called a Madigan Squeeze on one of our neonatal patients. The procedure is named after equine neonatal medicine guru - Dr John Madigan - who developed the technique.

The technique involves carefully applying a soft rope around the foal’s chest to provide gentle, sustained pressure for around 20 minutes. It was developed for foals showing signs of neonatal maladjustment syndrome (NMS) — sometimes referred to as “dummy foal syndrome”.

During a normal birth, the pressure of the birth canal is thought to play a role in the transition from the foal’s quiet neurological state in the womb to being awake, alert and ready for life on the outside. In some foals, this transition may not occur normally.

The Madigan Squeeze aims to recreate that pressure and may help some affected foals become more alert, recognise their mare and develop normal behaviours such as standing and nursing.

It’s a simple-looking technique with some fascinating science behind it — and just one of the tools that may form part of the supportive care of a neonatal foal. 🐴✨
