🐾 Mr Freckles
Sometimes stopping to smell the flowers doesn't work out in your favour and Mr Freckles found this out the hard way. After encountering some lilies he became extremely unwell and was rushed in to see our team of vets and nurses.

After a few days in hospital on an intravenous drip and medications Mr Freckles was able to get home to his family where he is feeling much more like himself!

Lily plants are incredibly toxic and can be fatal to cats, even the smallest act of a cat brushing up against lilies or ingesting the smallest amount can cause rapid kidney failure.

If you are ever worried about your cat ingesting any part of a lily plant please call our experienced team straight away on (08) 9200 4460

This little guy came to visit us with the unfortunate case of a re**al prolapse. In some cases surgical intervention is required to fix a prolapse but fortunately for Toby he left us with some soothing cream, and probiotics.

🐾 Ragnar & Rollo

These naughty boys managed to get their little mittens on some chocolate brownie. After a vet check and the realisation that only Rollo ingested the chocolate treat Ragnar was let off with some activated charcoal while his brother was safely made to vomit and given his own dose of charcoal as well.

Chocolate can be highly toxic and both cats and dogs so if you’re ever in doubt that they’ve eaten some it’s best to seek veterinary advice

Meet Trip. Now he wolfed down the Christmas cake while his humans were plugging in their laptop. Trip is usually trustworthy and impecable around food. We takes this as a sign that Trip is into Christmas. The tartaric acid in grapes can potentially damage kidneys (though not all grapes contain same amounts). After care we sang a little Christmas tune because at this stage his kidneys are healthy!!

Who has ever tried to do the right thing... which ended up being the wrong thing? Yup many of us, but, our socials are about educating and if Billy story helps another family, well thats the right thing too. Young Billy accidently got given the "dog flea treatment" instead of the "cat treatment". Now Advantix has permethrin in it which, for cats is very toxic. Billy stayed in hospital for 24 hours. The general guide is 36 hours post-exposure without twitching/seizures, prognosis is generally good...and Billy was good, not great but good to go home and complete his recovery.

Meet Poppy who somehow was still affectionate despite having a gastro sent from hell after her delicious raw lamb bone or nibbling on some succulent plants. Bone marrow is a known delicacy for humans, but for dogs their fat content (75 – 90%) is too high to be tolerated. Poppy went home with pain relief and medicine to calm her guts down and if still unwell will return for x-rays to check whether any bone has become blocked or caused damage. Even higher risk is cooked bones for dogs.
