📢 IMPORTANT UPDATE 📢
Royal Canin TerraCycle Recycling Program

Please be advised that the Royal Canin TerraCycle recycling program is no longer operating in Australia.

As a result, Kalamunda Vet is no longer a collection point for this scheme and we will no longer be accepting pet food bags and pouches for recycling.

🐾 What does this mean for you?
🐱🐶 Pet food bags and pouches that were previously collected through this program will now need to be disposed of in your general waste bin.

We appreciate your understanding and thank everyone who has supported this recycling initiative!

☀️ WARMER WEATHER IS HERE ☀️
🐾 IS YOUR PET PROTECTED? 🐾

As we head into the warmer months here in WA, it’s a great time to check that your dogs and cats are up to date with their flea and tick prevention.

Fleas can cause itching, irritation and skin problems and once they’re in your home, they can be difficult to get on top of.

Ticks can pose a serious health risk to our pets with the risk of Erlichia, especially if you are travelling north this summer.

Don’t wait until you spot a flea or tick! Prevention is the best protection.

✅ Check when your pet’s next treatment is due
✅ Make sure you’re using the right product for your pet
✅ Keep prevention up to date especially throughout the warmer months
✅ If you’re unsure what’s best for your pet, chat with our friendly reception staff

When was the last time you checked your pet’s flea & tick prevention? 🐶🐱

Stay ahead of the PESTS and enjoy a happy, healthy summer with your PETS! 🌿☀️🐾

🐍 SNAKES ARE OUT! 🐍

Snake bites can be life threatening and time is critical. If you suspect your pet has been bitten, act quickly and get to the CLOSEST VET immediately.

⚠️ Signs of a possible snake bite include:
• Vomiting
• Sudden weakness or paralysis, particularly in the hind legs
• Collapse, even if they appear to recover
• Wobbly or unsteady gait
• Loss of bowel or bladder control
• Blood in the urine
• Muscle twitches
• Dilated pupils
• Rapid breathing

🚨 If you:
• Witness your pet being bitten
• See your pet in close proximity to a snake
• Find a dead snake your pet may have killed
• Notice any of the symptoms above
➡️ Treat it as an emergency and get to the closest vet immediately.

Snake identification can be helpful, but DO NOT put yourself in harms way trying to identify or catch a snake.

🐉 Meet Haku 🐉

Just like the beautiful white dragon from Spirited Away, Haku is a spirited and gorgeous 9 month old Maine C**n with a personality as big as his paws! 🤍

Haku presented to us after going off his food and becoming unusually quiet.

It didn’t take long to discover the cause! Haku had a life threatening intestinal obstruction caused by SIX hair ties. 😳

He required surgery to remove them all!

Haku is now fully recovered and back to his usual happy and mischievous self, exactly how we like to see him! 🐾🤍

A very important reminder 🚨curious cats can get into the most unexpected things so it’s important to keep hair ties, string, sewing items and other small objects safely out of reach!
