🚨 A little lump, an unexpected vet visit, and one very sleepy Macki! 🐾💤

Some of you may have seen on my stories yesterday that Macki had a trip to the vets, so here’s what happened!

While giving Macki some belly rubs, I noticed a lump on his side. I regularly check over my furbabies for anything unusual, so after measuring it, I suspected it was likely a fatty lump but wasn’t going to take any chances!

I reached out to a trusted friend of Macki’s pawrents, who is also the mumma of Oatly and Arlo and a close KVC client, to get her thoughts on whether I should let them know while they were overseas or wait until they returned. We agreed it was best to tell them so they had the option of getting it checked. They were grateful for me to take him in, and I managed to get him an appointment the very next day!

Vet visits aren’t Macki’s favourite (understatement 😂), so despite having his prescribed anxiety medication, he needed some additional drowsy meds to help him cope. With a little planning and a quiet room, we got through the waiting game!

Thankfully, we had a lovely male vet (Macki’s favourite kind of human haha!), who examined the lump and said it was a fatty lipoma. What a relief! 🥰 His pawrents can now discuss removal options when they’re home, as these lumps can become uncomfortable as they grow.

After all that excitement, it was home for a very drowsy boy to sleep off his medication… and of course, I couldn’t resist having a nap alongside him! 😂🩷🐾

🦎🐍 HAPPY NATIONAL REPTILE AWARENESS DAY! 🐢💚

Today is all about celebrating our incredible scaly friends and raising awareness of the important role reptiles play in our world! 🥰

From curious bearded dragons and beautiful blue-tongue lizards to turtles, geckos, pythons and so many more, reptiles come in all shapes, sizes and personalities. They might not all be everyone’s cup of tea, but they deserve just as much respect, understanding and care as our furry and feathered friends! 🩷

Here in Perth, we’re lucky to have some amazing native reptiles, but it’s also important to remember that as the weather warms up, our local snakes become more active. 🐍☀️

A few important reminders for our pawrents:
🐾 Keep dogs on leads when out walking, particularly around bushland.
🏡 Keep your yard tidy and remove potential hiding spots where possible.
👀 Keep an eye out for reptiles when spending time outdoors.
🚫 Never attempt to handle, catch or kill a snake. Give it space and contact a licensed snake catcher if needed.
🩺 If you suspect your furbaby has been bitten by a snake, seek emergency veterinary care immediately, even if you can’t see any obvious signs.

Reptiles aren’t something to fear simply because they’re different. Learning about them helps us understand them, appreciate their place in our ecosystem and keep both our pets and native wildlife safe. 💚

Sadly Karlee’s little stay with Frodo and Izzy finished up yesterday, but here is a little reel highlighting some of their fun and happy moments together! 🩷 WEEK 6 INJURY UPDATE 🩷

Well, here we are at week 6! 🥲 The swelling around my ankle is STILL hanging around… damn gravity! 😂🙄

The good news is that last week was probably the most I’ve been able to properly rest it, so plenty of resting was had! 🙌🏻 My physio appointments are still twice a week for at least the next two weeks, and today we introduced some light resistance band exercises, so we’ll see how that goes! 🤞🏻

The exercises involving bending my toes down and turning my foot inwards are still the most painful, but thankfully the pain from last week to this week has improved slightly. Small steps, but I’ll take them! 🥰

I’m still using my moon boot for walking until I feel more confident with my balance, and I’m continuing to minimise driving as much as possible. I’ve also been given a new exercise to help make driving less painful, so fingers crossed that helps too! 🚗🤞🏻

Unfortunately, my poor calf muscle is now paying the price for not being able to walk properly with my limp. And let me tell you, having that muscle manipulated during physio is PAINFUL! Hahaha! 😂😭 Who knew my calf would end up needing so much attention too?!

Speaking of painful… I really miss my lovely remedial massage lady, Mel, and so does my very achy body! 🥲🩷 Sadly, cost-wise, I can only afford to focus on one at the moment, so physio has to take priority. But as soon as I can get back to Mel, I will be there! My body (particularly my shoulders and back 😂) will probably hate me during the massage, but goodness knows I need it! 🤣

For now, it’s still no additional dog walking and avoiding extra visits wherever possible. I’m trying my best to stick to the plan, keep resting and not push myself too much, even though we all know that’s not exactly my strong point! 🙈

Hopefully, with continued physio, these new exercises and plenty more rest, I’ll keep making progress towards that end-of-year recovery goal. 🤞🏻🩷

And once again, a massive thank you to everyone for your patience, understanding and support while I work through this. Your kindness means so much, especially when I’m finding it frustrating having to slow down and say no to things I’d normally happily do. 🥹🐾🩷

Slow and steady wins the race… apparently! 😂💕
