SPRING IS HERE! 🐣

As the weather warms up, wildlife across WA becomes much more active. Spring is a busy breeding season, which means baby birds are arriving, ducklings are on the move and reptiles are emerging to enjoy the warmer weather. 🐣

With more wildlife moving through our suburbs, gardens and roadsides, please keep an extra eye out:

🚗 Slow down and watch for wildlife on and around roads, particularly around wetlands, bushland and reserves.

🌿 Check long grass, garden beds and vegetation before mowing, whipper-snipping or gardening – reptiles and other wildlife may be sheltering there.

🦆 Watch for ducklings and their parents crossing roads as families move between waterways.

🐣 Keep an eye out for young birds learning to fly and exploring outside the nest.

🐕 Keep pets under control around wildlife, particularly near bushland and wetlands.

A little extra awareness can make a big difference during one of the busiest times of year for our native wildlife. 💚

In the last 4 weeks, we've shared countless posts to try and find foster homes for all the whelping mums and their pups in our care but we still have 3 little families on site! 😓

Even if you cannot help, do you know someone who could? Do you have a friend who works from home? A coworker who doesn't currently have any other pets? Family who are visiting from overseas for a few months and can look after them while you're at work? All supplies as well as guidance will be provided by the Refuge so having experience with whelping mums is not a requirement 💙
