Natural Disaster 🤝🏼 Biggie
A tiny speal about the happenings in Thargomindah:
Firstly thank you for all the caring messages from those who reached out through Instagram!
Our hometown was flooded during the last week of March (with the river remaining over the bridge and in the township still at a slow receding pace).
Initially when all residents were evacuated to the highest point of town (Airport), all locals and their pets were accounted for, with high numbers of people opting to evacuate via aircrafts.
Currently majority of us remain sleeping roadside in swags, cars, horse floats etc until our homes can be assessed and repaired. Each home and business in town along with belongings was unfortunately damaged by the floodwaters (both exterior and interior).
Not only have the locals been well taken care of from many services sending in supplies, SES, additional police and lifeline volunteers, but our animals also being a priority.
We have regular visits from a vet, donations of dog/cat food, choppers dropping fodder for horses and stock still remaining on dry land on the outskirts of town.
Biggie as no surprise, has been with me the whole time and has made each day even more eventful when it doesn’t need to be (I won’t write about this)😅
Our beautiful community and high spirits of locals still remains. We are all safe, although huge support will be needed over the next few months. This is the direct link for any kind donations for our hometown below ❤️
