๐ A LITTLE UPDATE ON CYRUS | HONESTY, TRANSPARENCY & A WHOLE LOT OF LOVE ๐
Today, our beautiful little ๐คVector๐คnow known as Cyrus, had his BAER hearing test, and just as we suspected, the results confirmed that he has a hearing impairment in his left ear. ๐๐พ
As someone who believes in being completely transparent about the ups and downs of breeding, I wanted to share his results and hopefully help educate others along the way.
First things first... Cyrus is still the same happy, playful, cheeky little boy as the rest of his siblings! ๐ฅฐ
Our vet has reassured us that his unilateral hearing loss is not expected to impact his overall health, lifespan or ability to enjoy a full, happy active life. With normal hearing in his right ear, he should navigate everyday life much like any other dog.
There are just a few things his new family can be mindful of as he grows, such as using visual cues alongside verbal commands, approaching him gently when he's asleep, and keeping him safe when outdoors. ๐
โจ A hearing impairment doesn't mean a lesser life.
Dogs are wonderfully adaptable, and a dog with hearing in just one ear can still play, learn, bond deeply with their family and enjoy all the adventures life has to offer.
Of course, every dog is an individual, and it's important that prospective owners understand the needs of any puppy they're considering welcoming into their lives. But I would hate for someone to automatically overlook a unilateral deaf dog without understanding that they can make an absolutely beautiful companion.
And the best part? Cyrus's new family are SO excited to meet their little boy in just a couple of days! ๐ฅนโค๏ธ
His diagnosis hasn't changed how special he is, and we're so happy he's found a family ready to love him just as he is.
At Mightyburns Bulls, I believe responsible breeding means sharing the whole story... not just the perfect moments, the beautiful photos or the results we hoped for. It means being honest, continuing to learn, and putting our puppies first.
Because every puppy deserves a chance to be loved for who they are. ๐๐พ๐
I would also like to express a huge thankyou to Dr Nichola and the team at Kudah veterinary services for looking after our baby today and especialy Amy for sending me the cutesy pics while he was asleep getting his testing done.
