Attention all pet owners! I have been seeing far too many matted dogs coming to me in a lot of pain, it hurts me to see such gorgeous sweet natured dogs coming in who have been in pain for weeks or even months, & many owners of these dogs have been unaware of the pain they were inflicting on their animals so I urge you to take a moment to read the information below about what matting can do to a dog.
I have shaved off a number of “sheep pelts” this week where the fur comes off in one giant piece from nose to tail. Tight matting close to the skin not only causes rashes, hot spots & skin infections which can fester below the pelt where you are unable to see them, it is uncomfortable for the animal and can get to the point it is painful for the dogs to simply walk or even move. I’ve had so dogs come in unable to see or unable to hear with ears packed densely full of wax, dogs with chunky mats blocking faces caked to the skin with eye buggers, ge****ls areas and bottoms blocked and caked with excrement. Matts in-between paw pads and toes that yank on the loose foot webbing with every step, as with armpit and groin matts their is a lot of loose skin in these sensitive area that tugs with every step. Removing matting is dangerous work that requires a tafe qualifications it can take many hours of hard manual labour not to mention the wear it put on my equipment, I do NOT recommend cutting out knots at home I have seen some horrific accidents, if dogs come in with cuts across their body first aid fees will apply, there will be no exceptions any and all dogs that come in matted with have to pay full matting fees (the price dependant on the density of the matting) this apply to all customers across the board, as do late fees for more than 15min late for your appointment time & cancellation fees for appointments cancelled with less than 24hrs notice, kind regards Casey, Soapy Pups Parlour
