These gorgeous Chihuahua puppies recently visited Sires On Ice Victoria for Orivet DNA sample collection🧬

As an Orivet approved collection agent, we can independently collect DNA samples for parentage verification and genetic testing. Each dog is positively identified at the time of collection, with the sample and required paperwork prepared for submission to Orivet.
A simple appointment to help breeders meet their DNA testing requirements and maintain accurate breeding records. 🐾

🤎 Meet Thor & Valkiri!
Thor and Valkiri, two magnificent South African Boerboels, recently visited Sires On Ice Victoria for a natural mating. It was a pleasure to assist their owners and be part of their breeding journey.

Many people think artificial insemination (AI) is only used when dogs can’t mate naturally. In reality, it’s commonly chosen for convenience, interstate breedings, and the use of chilled or frozen semen. When performed at the optimal time, AI can be an excellent breeding option and forms an important part of modern canine reproduction.

Meet Oakley!

Oakley, a beautiful Mini Golden Retriever, recently visited Sires On Ice Victoria for progesterone testing before returning later that day for a side-by-side mating.

📅We generally recommend beginning progesterone testing from day 6 of your bitch’s season (with the first day of bleeding counted as day 1). Every dog is different, so careful interpretation of each progesterone result helps determine the best time for breeding while minimising unnecessary repeat tests.

Safe to say Oakley also approved of Ian’s treats… those lips don’t lick themselves! 😋🐾

Remmie recently visited Sires On Ice Victoria for progesterone testing.

🐶 Did you know? Progesterone testing is the most accurate way to determine when a bitch is ovulating, helping identify the optimal time for breeding or artificial insemination. Accurate timing can maximise the chances of a successful breeding while reducing unnecessary repeat testing.

Boston, a handsome Dogue de Bordeaux sire, recently visited Sires On Ice Victoria for a collect and vaginal artificial insemination (AI) with Akira.

🐶 Did you know? Artificial insemination is a safe and effective breeding option using fresh or chilled semen. When combined with accurate progesterone testing, AI helps identify the optimal breeding time, maximising the chances of a successful breeding. It's also an excellent option for interstate matings, allowing chilled semen to be transported safely between breeders.

❄️ Meet Cruze!

Cruze the Jack Russell recently visited Sires On Ice Victoria for our Collect, Assess & Freeze service.
Freezing semen allows valuable genetics to be preserved for future breedings. Before freezing, every collection is thoroughly assessed for volume, concentration, colour, motility and morphology. The semen is then carefully frozen, with a post-thaw assessment performed to ensure the freeze has been successful.

Frozen semen can remain viable indefinitely when stored correctly, giving breeders flexibility for future breeding plans.
