📢 Important Notice for Wednesday
Dear valued clients,
On Wednesday, we’ll be upgrading our veterinary software to help us provide an even better experience for you and your pets.
As part of this upgrade:
🐾 Our online booking system will be unavailable overnight and throughout Wednesday morning.
🐾 Our clinic will remain open, however our computer systems will be unavailable for approximately half the day. During this time, our team will be working without access to our computers, so some services may take a little longer than usual.
We kindly ask for your patience and understanding while we complete this important upgrade. Our team will be doing everything we can to keep things running as smoothly as possible.
Thank you for your continued support—we appreciate your understanding and can’t wait to welcome you and your furry family members with our new and improved system! 🐶🐱💙

🎆 Territory Day is almost here! 🎆

For many of us, Territory Day is a fun time to celebrate, but for our pets, the loud bangs and bright flashes can be quite stressful.

To help keep your pets safe and comfortable on cracker night we recommend the following;

🐾 Bringing pets inside before the fireworks start
🐾 Creating a quiet, secure space where they can relax
🐾 Closing curtains, windows and doors to help reduce noise
🐾 Leaving the TV or some music on for background noise
🐾 Checking that your pet’s microchip and ID details are up to date

Even pets that are normally confident can become frightened and may try to escape if they’re startled.

🚨 Reminder: 🚨

There is 1 week left until Territory Day, if you’ve already organised medications please don’t forget to collect them prior to the day.

Sedation isn’t over the counter, so if you need to organise an appointment please don’t leave it until last minute. Give us a call at either Parap or Palmerston Veterinary Hospitals to book in for a check up.

📞 Parap - 8981 9767
📞 Palmerston - 8932 2344

Stay safe, and give your pets an extra cuddle from us this Territory Day! ❤️🐶🐱

🤎🐣 Keep your pet safe this Easter! 🐣🤎

Easter is a time for chocolate, celebrations, and family—but it can also be a dangerous time for our pets.

⚠️ Chocolate is toxic to dogs and cats!

🚨 Signs of chocolate toxicity include:
• Vomiting & diarrhoea
• Restlessness or hyperactivity
• Increased heart rate
• Tremors or seizures

🍬 It’s not just chocolate!
Easter goodies like hot cross buns and sweets can also be harmful due to ingredients like raisins, sultanas, and artificial sweeteners.

🐾 Keep your pets safe:
• Store all Easter treats well out of reach
• Remind children not to share chocolate with pets
• Be mindful of hidden eggs around the house or yard

If you suspect your pet has eaten chocolate or any toxic food, contact your vet immediately—early treatment can be lifesaving.

Let’s keep Easter fun and safe for every member of the family 💛🐶🐰

⚠️ Bat Safety Alert ⚠️

Due to displacement from Cyclone Narrelle, bats are being found more frequently on the ground and in unusual areas. This increases the risk of pets and people coming into contact with them.

🦇 Why this matters:
Bats in Australia can carry Australian Bat Lyssavirus (ABLV) – a virus closely related to rabies that can cause serious and potentially fatal illness if transmitted through a bite or scratch. (Health, Disability and Ageing AU)

🚫 Important reminders:
• Do NOT handle bats – even if they appear injured or dead
• Keep pets well away from bats
• Only trained, vaccinated wildlife carers should manage bats

🐾 If your pet has had contact with a bat:
• Prevent further contact immediately
• Contact your vet urgently for advice

👤 If you or someone else is bitten or scratched:
• Wash the wound thoroughly for at least 15 minutes
• Seek urgent medical attention

💡 Any bat in Australia should be treated as a potential carrier of ABLV, even if it looks healthy. (NT Health)

📞 If you find an injured or distressed bat, contact a wildlife rescue group;
Woolleybutt - 0409 941 584
Wildcare - 0408 885 341
Darwin Wildlife Sanctuary - 0473 992 581

Let’s keep both our community and wildlife safe! ❤️
