Today we get to celebrate this girl’s birthday.

She’s estimated to be 9 years old. I don't know how your first few years in life have been.. how many owners you have had. But I promised you: I will be your last 🤗

And somehow, days like today make me stop and think about how bloody fast a dog’s life goes.

How many more summers do we have together? 5? 6? Hopefully many more.

She has been there for me through sadness, anger, stress and anything life sometimes throws at you. She never asks questions, never judges. She’s just there. 🫶

And that’s the thing with dogs… they give us so much, but we only get them for a relatively short part of our lives.

So give them everything you can while you have them. Take them for the walks. Let them sniff. Feed them good food. Take them on adventures. Give them your time, your patience, your love. Let them be dogs.

Because for us they’re only a part of our life.

But for them, we are their whole life.

And they deserve the absolute best we can give them.

Happy 9th birthday, beautiful girl.
Hopefully we’ve got many, many more summers ahead of us. 🐾❤️

🐾 A different kind of dog encounter today… 🦎

Today I found myself dealing with dogs in a slightly different way than usual. Unfortunately, one of the dogs had caught and injured a blue-tongue lizard.

The good news is that the owner did exactly the right thing and organised help for the lizard. ❤️

And the dog? We can't really blame them. Chasing, catching and investigating prey is part of a dog's natural instinct. It doesn't mean they are a “bad dog” or that they have done something wrong on purpose.

One really important thing to remember: don't punish your dog after something has already happened. Dogs don't understand that you're angry about something they did several minutes ago. By the time you find the lizard, the opportunity to teach them anything has already passed.

If you are there when it happens, however, you can calmly and confidently intervene and redirect your dog.

And yes — there are also things you can actively train to help in situations like this:

🐶 “Leave it” – teaching your dog to disengage from something they are interested in.

🐶 “Give” – teaching your dog to release something they already have in their mouth.

These skills are incredibly useful in everyday life, whether your dog has found a lizard, a piece of rubbish, another animal's toy… or something much more valuable in their opinion! 😅

Training isn't about stopping dogs from being dogs. It's about teaching them what to do when their natural instincts aren't appropriate or safe.

Over the past few weeks, I’ve had the pleasure of working with this handsome boy on building confidence, focus and practical life skills.

Our sessions included:

🌿 Exploring different surfaces & environments
💪 Confidence building through positive experiences
🐦 “Leave it” around birds & distractions

Dog training is about more than commands; it’s about confidence, good choices and navigating the world.

It’s been fantastic to see his progress, and I’m looking forward to seeing him continue to grow. Thank you for trusting me to be part of his training journey! 🐾

Today was, for now, my last walk with this special boy. ❤️

What a wonderful journey it has been. Together we've explored so many beautiful trails, shared countless adventures, and celebrated so many little wins along the way.

I'm incredibly grateful for the opportunity to work with him and for the trust you placed in me. Thank you for allowing me to be part of his journey.

It has given me valuable experience and many memories I'll always treasure.

🐾 A walk is never just a walk... 🐾

Many people think dog walking is simply about putting on a lead, walking for 30 minutes, and heading home. But there's so much more to it!

Every walk is a learning opportunity. Dogs are constantly taking in information, making choices, and practising behaviours. If they spend every walk pulling, barking, lunging, or ignoring their human... they're not just getting exercise: they're getting really good at those behaviours! 😅

A tired dog isn't always a well-behaved dog. Sometimes you've simply created a fitter dog that can pull you for even longer next time! 😉

That's why I don't just walk dogs. I work with them. Using kind, reward-based methods and my dog training background, I help reinforce calm behaviour, loose lead walking, focus, confidence, and good manners during our walks.

🐶 Whether your dog needs exercise, a midday break, or a little extra guidance, they'll get more than just kilometres, they'll get quality time that benefits both their body and their brain.

Because your dog deserves more than "just a walk." ❤️

🐾 Exciting news! 🐾

It's been a little quiet on here lately while I've been busy studying and working on some exciting new projects for the future. I'm currently expanding my knowledge in dog behaviour and training, and I can't wait to offer even more to help dogs and their owners.
