🐾🌿 PROTECTING OUR CATS AND OUR WILDLIFE! 🦎🐦❤️

Here at A Safe Place for Meow, we absolutely adore our feline friends, but we also have a huge soft spot for the incredible wildlife we share our beautiful Northern Territory with! 🥰

That's why we're passionate advocates for keeping cats safely indoors or in secure outdoor enclosures and making sure cats are desexed. 🐱💚

These simple choices make a big difference!

🐾 Keeping cats contained helps protect our native birds, reptiles and small mammals, while also keeping our beloved Meows safe from roads, fights and other dangers.

🐾 Desexing cats helps prevent unwanted litters and reduces the number of cats and kittens living on the streets, where they can have a significant impact on our native wildlife.

🌿 And speaking of wildlife, we'd love to give a special shout-out to the wonderful team at Wild North Veterinary Hospital! 🌿

Located in Winnellie, Wild North is Darwin's dedicated exotic pet and wildlife hospital, providing specialised veterinary care for birds, reptiles, small mammals and our precious native wildlife. 🦜🦎🐢

Their team also provides care for injured wildlife, helping give these animals the best possible chance of recovery and returning to the wild. ❤️

We think the work they do is pretty amazing, and we're lucky to have such dedicated wildlife professionals here in Darwin!

💚 Because loving cats and protecting wildlife can absolutely go paw in paw! 🐾

Please take a moment to check out Wild North and the wonderful work they do.

😻🥰 WHERE ARE THEY MEOW? – LUMI 🥰😻

Some foster cats have a sneaky way of making themselves permanent… and Lumi is one of them! ❤️

When Lumi’s foster family first heard she had ringworm, they were a little hesitant. But from the moment she stepped into their lives, she quickly became such a big part of the family that there was no letting her go. 🥹

Lumi was originally found in a shed after giving birth to her babies. These days, she’s living the life of the queen she was always meant to be! 👑

Her daily schedule is very demanding… brushing, eating sashimi, snacking, stretching and napping in the sunshine. 😹☀️ She’s also incredibly kind and welcoming to every human and furry friend who comes into her home.

From a mum found in a shed to a very loved foster fail, we think Lumi has this forever-home thing figured out. 🥰

Happy forever, beautiful Lumi! 🤍🐾

🐾❤️ A BIG THANK YOU TO EVIE'S BARK! ❤️🐾

We wanted to give another special shout-out to the wonderful team at Evie's Bark for lending us a helping paw at our Bunnings Palmerston sausage sizzle! 🌭🐶🐱

It was so lovely having you there, and we really appreciate you giving up your time to help support our little rescue. 🥰

And the kindness didn't stop there!

Evie's Bark also generously provided us with one of their Recycling Initiative bins, which we'll be setting up at our shelter! ♻️💚

This means our wonderful community will soon be able to drop off eligible 10c bottles and cans, helping turn everyday recycling into much-needed support for animal welfare through the Evie's Bark Recycling Initiative, which supports both Evie's Bark and HATS NT. 🐾

We'll share more details once the bin is ready for your containers!

We absolutely love seeing local animal-loving organisations coming together, sharing resources and supporting one another. After all, we're all working towards the same goal, helping animals in need! ❤️

Thank you again, Evie's Bark, for your generosity, friendship and community spirit. You're truly pawsome! 😻🐶💕

🌭🐾 SNAGS FOR MEOWS, WHAT A PAWSOME DAY! 🐾🌭

Our Bunnings Palmerston sausage sizzle is done and dusted, and we have some very special thank-yous to share! 😻❤️

What a wonderful day of sizzling snags, teamwork, friendly faces and community spirit, all to help the cats and kittens in our care! 🐱💕

🐾 To our incredible volunteers, you're the heart of our little rescue! Thank you for giving up your Saturday to cook, serve, prepare food, organise supplies and keep everything running smoothly. We know how much work goes into these days, and we couldn't do it without you! 🥰

🌭 To everyone who stopped by for a snag, thank you! Whether you bought lunch, grabbed a drink, made a donation or simply stopped for a friendly chat, every bit of support means so much to us.

❤️ To everyone who generously donated money, thank you for helping us continue providing food, veterinary care and safe, loving foster homes for our Meows.

🔨 To Bunnings Palmerston, a huge thank you for giving our volunteer-run rescue the opportunity to fundraise at your store. We really appreciate your continued support of local community groups!

🐶 And a very special thank you to Evie's Bark! Thank you for coming along, rolling up your sleeves and lending us a helping paw. It was wonderful having you there, and we absolutely love seeing local animal-loving organisations supporting each other! ❤️

They also surprised us with a lovely contribution to our shelter, which we'll be sharing more about very soon! ♻️🐾

Behind every rescued cat or kitten is a community of people who care, and days like this remind us just how lucky we are to have such amazing support.

From all of our volunteers and every little Meow in our care, THANK YOU for helping us make a difference, one snag at a time! 🌭😻❤️

❤️ ADOPTION DAY UPDATE! ❤️

We've had a busy few weeks here at A Safe Place for Meow, with some of our gorgeous kittens finding their forever homes! 🥰🏡

With several little Meows heading off to their new families and our volunteers busy getting the next bunch of kittens healthy, happy and ready for adoption, we've decided to postpone our Adoption Day scheduled for Saturday 17 October.

But don't worry, there are still plenty of Meows waiting for their happily ever after!

The good news is that we'll be joining HATS NT the following weekend, so there will still be an opportunity to catch up with our team, chat about adoption and fostering, and find out what we've been up to! 🐱❤️

We'll also be announcing a new Adoption Day date soon, so keep an eye on our page for updates!

In the meantime, you can still browse our available cats and kittens on our website:

https://asafeplaceformeow.org.au/

Thank you for your continued support and understanding. Our little rescue has been a hive of activity lately, and we're looking forward to introducing you to some new furry faces very soon! 🥰

😹 Sunday Silly 😹

🚨 SECURITY ALERT! 🚨

There appears to be a suspicious character at the door…

He’s wearing a mask.
He’s lurking outside.
And frankly, the Meows have questions. 👀😂

🐾 Would your cat let this masked visitor in, or would they be hiding under the bed before you even opened the door?

Happy Sunday, Meows! 😻❤️

🌭🔥 THE SNAGS ARE SIZZLING! 🔥🌭

We’re here at Bunnings Palmerston and the BBQ is well and truly underway! 😻🐾

If you haven’t had lunch yet, we may know a place... 😹

Come grab a snag, say hello to our volunteers and help us raise funds for the Meows in our care. ❤️

We’re here until 4pm today, so there’s still plenty of time to come find us!

🌭 Saturday lunch sorted. Meows supported. Win-win! 🐱❤️
