🐾 Territory Day is fast approaching – please plan ahead for your pets 🎆

Fireworks can be extremely stressful for many pets, so if your pet has previously struggled with fireworks or loud noises, now is the time to start preparing.

If you think your pet may need sedatives or prescription medication, please contact us as soon as possible. These need to be assessed and prescribed by a veterinarian, and supplies and appointment can become limited as the day gets closer.

In the meantime, here are some practical ways to help your pets cope:

🏠 Create a safe space
Set up a quiet, secure room inside your home where your pet feels comfortable. Close windows, blinds, and doors to reduce noise and flashes.

🔊 Mask the noise
Use white noise, a fan, TV, or calming music to help drown out fireworks sounds.

🦴 Provide distractions
Long-lasting treats, puzzle feeders, or favourite toys can help shift their focus.

🚶 Walk dogs early
Exercise dogs earlier in the day before fireworks begin, and keep them securely inside once evening approaches.

🔒 Check safety
Make sure gates, fences, and windows are secure. Ensure your pet is microchipped (details are up to date) and wearing ID tags in case they become frightened and escape.

📅 Plan ahead
Don’t leave it until the last minute—appointments and medications become very limited in the days leading up to Territory Day.

If you’re unsure what your pet might need, please get in touch with the clinic and we’ll be happy to help guide you.

Let’s work together to keep our pets safe and as stress-free as possible this Territory Day ❤️🐾

If your pet is insured, simply let our team know when booking your appointment or at check-in and we can check if your policy is eligible.

🤩Patient highlight🤩

🐾 Meet Chance 🐾
Chance is a 7-year-old dog who has been on a long journey managing elbow and hip dysplasia. He first came to see us after being adopted from the RSPCA as a puppy, when his owners noticed limping and discomfort in his hind legs. A few months later, he also began showing lameness in his front legs.

With the help of X-rays, we diagnosed Chance with both elbow and hip dysplasia, and over time he also developed osteoarthritis in his lumbar spine.

💊 How we’re helping Chance stay comfortable:
• Short-term anti-inflammatory medication for pain relief
• 6-monthly Synovan injections to support joint health and cartilage repair
• Daily joint supplements (4Cyte)
• Occasional use of anti-inflammatories during flare-ups

🏡 At-home care makes a big difference too:
• Maintaining a healthy weight to reduce joint strain
• Low-impact exercise to keep him moving safely
• Supportive bedding for comfort
• Non-slip mats and mobility aids around the home

Thanks to a combination of veterinary care and dedicated home management, Chance is able to stay active and as pain-free as possible 💙

If you have concerns about your pet’s mobility, feel free to reach out—we’re here to help!
