PERTH ROYAL SHOW 2026

Now that the dust has settled on what we are sure was a huge week for everyone involved, we're more than happy to share the OTT results from this years Perth Royal Show.

Having sponsored this event for years to promote and encourage the participation of both Thoroughbreds and Standardbreds, we are continuously impressed by the quantity and quality of retired racehorses presented.

Our 2026 Off the Track WA Perth Royal Show results are as follows:
🏆 Victime De L'amour - High-Point OTT Show Horse
🏆 Two Chances - High-Point OTT Show Jumper
🏆 Magic to Exceed - Supreme Thoroughbred
🏆 Itsnotova - Supreme Standardbred
🏆 Magic to Exceed - Supreme OTT exhibit
🏆 Lascia Star - Champion Ridden Thoroughbred
🏆 Kiwi Legend NZ - Champion Ridden Standardbred

What an exceptional line-up of horses. The Standardbred Led Gelding class was commented to be one of the largest breed classes of the show, highlighting just how many of these wonderful harness horses have transitioned into new show careers.

It was an honor to be present on the Wednesday to award prizes and meet with owners. The love that is shared around retired racehorses was evident with every encounter.

If you competed on a retired racehorse at this years Perth Royal Show, please share photos in the comments! We'd love to see them all! 📸

EDUCATING RETIRED RACEHORSES

We're proud to share a little insight into how the day unfolded at our OTTWA Grassroots clinic hosted in September.

Thank you to everyone who participated and braved the less than ideal weather! It was beautiful to see horses flourish in their lessons. For some of these horses, this was their first time off property in a group environment since retiring from racing.

We look forward to hosting another clinic at our Estate in 2027!

STANDARDBREDS BUILT FOR ENDURANCE

While Thoroughbreds thrive in eventing, the Standies have a natural affinity towards endurance riding.

The Western Australian Endurance Riders Association Inc. (WAERA) State Championships held in Collie was hosted on September 26th. Three Standardbreds competed, two of which covered the 80km ride and one in the 40km.

Living On Love (by Village Jasper USA) covered the 80km ride with junior rider, Kaylee Thompson. Awarded the ride by Ruth Morley (Living on Love's owner and rider), Kaylee was lucky enough to complete her second 80km ride with a seasoned professional to be rewarded with first place in the Junior division.

Ruth rode alongside Kaylee onboard Flash William (by Fly Like An Eagle), completing the 80km ride to finish 1st in the Lightweight division and OTT Best Conditioned horse.

Linda Smith and Amongst the Clouds, retrained and rehomed through our own OTTWA Retraining Program, also completed the 40km ride and received some more OTTWA merchandise to add to their collection! We love to keep track of Pluto and see him doing well in endurance with Linda.

Congratulations to these riders and their super horses. If you have a Standardbred we strongly encourage owners to explore endurance riding, even as a hobby! These horses love the adventure and many have found their true strides out on the trails.
