UPDATE - yes! Milo ate a Garmin watch strap. Amazingly the watch strap had been lost 3 months beforehand (without his own noticing a naughty kitty eating it!) and he hadn’t shown any signs of being unwell, until it moved form his stomach into his small intestine.

🐱🔍 It’s TIME for a guessing game!

Recently, Dr Jeremy treated Milo, a young cat who hadn’t been acting like himself for a few days. After reviewing his X-rays, we became concerned that Milo may have swallowed something he shouldn’t have.

He was taken straight into surgery, where the foreign object was successfully removed without any complications. The good news? Milo is now a few weeks post-op and back to his happy, playful self! ❤️

As part of the day, Josh learnt about managing marine events such as beached whales and dolphins and how to help injured seals (which sometimes involves a big net!)

🐱💉FREE FIV booster vaccines for a limited time only!

Feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV) is a contagious virus that can severely affect a cat’s immune system. It is spread by direct contact with carriers of the virus (stray cats are a common source). Once caught, it is not treatable and can be life threatening as it disrupts the immune system making infections more likely.

We recommend FIV vaccination for ALL cats with outdoor access.

Vaccination schedule:
- Initial booster course: 3 vaccinations are required 2-4 weeks apart
- Annual booster to maintain immunity

A big thank you to Hank and the team at for this week’s blood donation.

After a light sedation, Hank was back home within a couple of hours, leaving behind a potentially life-saving donation ready for the next critically ill patient.

For his efforts, Hank received plenty of love, a Prime100 roll to take home, and a credit on his account for future vaccinations.

Lynx is doing well and heading home!

Lynx made the unfortunate decision to eat a corn cob - one of the most common causes of intestinal blockages in dogs (along with bones, toys, blanket and socks).

After surgery to remove it from her small intestine, 48 hours later she’s happy, comfortable and back to smashing her dinner as a little Staff should.

Holiday Opening Hours - we will be operating on reduced clinic hours over the ANZAC weekend.

As always, our after-hours emergency service remains available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Have a safe and enjoyable long weekend. For those who can, we encourage you to attend one of the many ANZAC Day services across the district to commemorate the service and sacrifice of those past and present.

CT scanning at Nowra Veterinary Hospital!

Recently, Cosi had a full abdominal CT scan to help plan surgery for his a**l gland removal. The level of detail we get from CT imaging makes a huge difference when it comes to making the best decisions for our patients.

We regularly use CT scans to investigate issues where X-rays or ultrasound may not gather the level of detail we need, for issues such as trauma, spinal disease, epilepsy, abscesses, tumours, and more.
