Hendrix won the Open Ba****ck obstacle section at the Gippsland Super Horse Challenge!
So impressed with how he attempted every obstacle - even the ones I wasn’t so sure of!

Thanks to the wonderful Andrew Franks - Event Action Photography for snapping these great shots once again 📸

So incredibly proud of Hendrix this weekend!
Winning 5 of the 7 events and earning enough points to take out the Overall Open title at the 2026 Gippsland Super Horse Challenge 🥇

After surgery, rehab, and starting again with fitness for both of us, there’s been a lot of quiet work behind the scenes. To see it all come together like this is pretty unreal. It’s so nice to be back at it after so long!

Huge congratulations to the GSHC committee for another fantastic event, and congratulations to all competitors and place getters. Thank you to everyone who has supported us, helped along the way, and cheered us on.

Thank you to the wonderful sponsors

and to the judges and stewards.

And most of all… thank you Hendrix 🐴🩷🥇

Decided to give Hendrix a crack at eventing since Blackie and Pep are interstate in their new homes. I wasn’t meant to be competing until next year, but with all these local comps it’s hard to sit them out — especially when it’s such a great chance to get Hendrix more experience out and about.

On the plus side, my ankle seems to be handling it really well! I haven’t tested it in a jump or dressage saddle yet, so we competed in the fender all weekend 😅

It was Hendrix’s first time in a dressage arena and he was such a good guy, producing a very sweet test for 76.5% and 3rd place. He then jumped clear in his first round at this height and was super across the cross country on Sunday, just needing a little encouragement for some of the questions out there. A double clear meant we finished on our dressage score of 23.5 and moved up to 1st in the Grade 3 Open section! Goooood boy, Hendrix!

Huge thank you to Rosedale Pony Club for hosting and to Sale Greyhound Club for sponsoring the event. Massive effort from everyone helping out and filling in jobs — and a special mention for super strapper Kerry(TFQ Leather and Metal)! Thanks for all your help and support 💛

4th in the Novice at the Bairnsdale Campdraft on the weekend — with nearly 200 entries! So proud of Hendrix, especially considering we haven’t seen cows in over 18 months and we’re both very inexperienced when it comes to cattle work, let alone campdrafting (and he’s a warmblood cross, so not exactly bred for it!).

Our runs weren’t the prettiest, but you have to start somewhere. We learned so much, and I’ve got lots to work on — but I’m excited to keep learning and improving.

A huge thank you to Townsy for getting me going on the mechanical cow last weekend and for helping me all weekend with picking cattle and sharing your knowledge. Forever grateful for your generosity, advice, and expertise — it made such a difference and really helped ease my anxiety.

Thank you to the Bairnsdale Campdrafting Association for such a fun, welcoming weekend, and thank you to the cattle donors who help make these competitions possible.

Hendrix and I also made the final in the Ladies section on Friday night. Still in disbelief — and already looking forward to the next one!

Finally back in the saddle! Nearly made it to the 12 months my surgeon gave me… but I couldn’t help myself with such a fun comp so close to home. Huge thanks to Bairnsdale Pony Club for putting on a lovely day and to Brownwigg Rural & Agricultural Supplies for sponsoring the prizes I won! It was such a great day catching up with people I haven’t seen in ages!

The idea was to get Hendrix back out and about with some calmer events, as his last few Stockman’s Challenges have ended with him making the brumby catch final — leaving him pretty excited to get out. His last comp was over 18 months ago!

He really surprised me this weekend with his great attitude, taking out Open Working Stock Horse gelding, then going on to win Champion Working Stock Horse — pretty stoked considering the big line-up of open geldings and him being a Warmblood x QH (it was an unreg event). He then went on to win Champion Obstacle Course and did a lovely clear round in the Show Jumping, winning that too! He also placed in a few other events in the stock horse ring, but those were the highlights. Feeling so grateful to have such a fun, reliable horse to get back into the swing of things with 💛

I pulled Hendrix out of the paddock, hogged his mane that morning to make him look the part, and off we went. A special mention to Jess for supplying the stock horse uniform and going the extra mile with shiny tails and hooves! Thanks mate!

For those who don’t know, I’ve spent the past year recovering from a pretty major ankle injury — torn ligaments, tendon damage, and a bone fracture from attempting to snowboard. After surgery, countless appointments, and a lot of rehab, I’m so thankful to finally be back doing what I love. I’ve had to downsize and now just have Hendrix as my riding horse. Pep is in Sydney and Blackie is in Cairns — both in amazing homes 🩵

There are some young horses in the paddock if anyone is looking for a new partner - including a half brother to Hendrix (for sale on behalf of a friend)

Thanks for following - hopefully more regular updates to come ☺️

I’ve been very absent online while dealing with loss, surgery, and rehab. It’s been well over a year since I last competed, and it’ll still be a while yet. Rehab is ongoing and the only horses in the paddock right now are young ones — but I think I’ve finally found the drive to get back on the horse, so to speak.

Good luck to everyone riding today at Melbourne International 3DE on the final day! Watching from my phone while this ankle heals is a strong reminder of how much I miss it!

I’m excited about the young ones coming through, so stay tuned to follow their progress just like you followed this one.

📸 Pep and me over the B element in the CCI3* (part of the 4* track too!) Such a brave, honest little horse. Incredible grateful to have taken him from an unbroken 2yo to a 3* eventer, 1.20m showjumper, and stockman’s challenge winner. A once in a lifetime horse who always exceeded my expectations.

Hendrix was very consistent through all the preliminary events, accumulating enough points to get us into the finals among some of Australia’s greatest horsewomen.

It was a great feeling to be out there on finals day with a massive atmosphere attempting to halter a brumby. Hendrix was just as excited as I was! Although wild, we managed to get it done! 🤠

So incredibly proud of Hendrix winning the Ladies Rosewood Stockmans Challenge in NSW last weekend.

We were leading going into the finals with some good scores in the preliminary events - winning the whip crack section being a highlight. Being one of only 2 of the lady finalists to successfully catch the brumby in the final secured us the win 🥇

Big congratulations to all the other finalists and competitors – it truly was a great weekend! Massive credit to Hayley and the committee for running such an incredible challenge, everything went so smoothly and it’s great to have this one back on the calendar! Thank you to the judges, volunteers, and sponsors. It’s really rewarding to walk away with some great prize money, prizes, and a service fee.

Thanks to my wonderful friends, who helped me over the weekend and leading up to it – your support means the world to me.

Blackie has enjoyed a few months off during the summer. However, we’ve managed to attend a few competitions this year.

Last month at the Briagolong combined training and dressage jackpot, we scored 79% and 76% in dressage, winning the dressage jackpot and the CT - Level 2 🥇.

At the Mornington Peninsula EA Horse Trials EA95, we placed second 🥈 with a 70% in dressage and clear jumping phases.

This month at the Tonimbuk International Horse Trials, despite the scorching weather ☀️, we stepped up to 1*. Blackie delivered a solid dressage performance at this level, earning 70%. In the show jumping round she showed significant improvement for only her 3rd time at this height, just knocking one down.

Cross country - Blackie glanced off one of the angled logs early in the course. (I didn’t ride this very well and should have set her up better - she’s been jumping so well I forget she is still green with some of the questions that get asked at these higher levels). As it was incredibly hot I decided to prioritise her well-being. Knowing she still had a three-hour drive home, I opted to forget about the optimum time and took it easy. I was really impressed how she jumped the rest of the course including the water, bank and ditches… not to mention the skinnies! Despite accumulating time penalties and ending on a cricket score - Blackie handled the heat and vetted very well at the end of the course. I am so pleased how she is handling the step up to 1*

Blackie is now enjoying a little break while I focus on Hendrix and stockman challenges. Hoping to aim to have Blackje back out at Ballarat in May 😊
