Can you provide some support?
💛 Important Update 💛
This is something we haven’t had to do for a long time, and we truly hoped we wouldn’t need to… but unfortunately, we are now at that point.
For the short term, we are closing our doors to any new intakes.
This is not a decision we have made lightly. It’s one that has been weighing heavily on us.
Firstly, to everyone who has donated recently, thank you. We genuinely appreciate every single contribution. It is helping.
Our volunteers are also working incredibly hard behind the scenes through our fundraising auction site, our Mother’s Day raffle, and events like the recent Bunnings BBQ to raise funds. The support, time, and effort that goes into this does not go unnoticed, and it means more than we can put into words.
But the honest reality is, right now, it is only allowing us to tread water.
We are a rescue that prides itself on doing things responsibly. We pay for services at the time they are needed. We don’t like to run up huge bills and then ask for help later. We maintain a financial buffer so that when emergencies happen, and they always do, we can say yes immediately.
Right now, our funds are running out fast, and we are well below that buffer.
That is not a position we can safely operate from, and it’s honestly scares us.
In just the past few weeks, we’ve faced multiple emergency vet visits, along with the ongoing costs of board and train, transport, and desexing. At the same time, everything continues to get more expensive.
We are also a rescue that does not shy away from the harder dogs. The ones that need more time, more patience, and more support. The ones that often have nowhere else to go, just like Mario had no where else to go.
But that comes with a reality. Our dogs stay in care much longer than most. For example Navy has been in care for 5 years! Hoops, Muffin and Wilbur are sanctuary dogs, which means we are responsible for their ongoing, expected and unexpected medical care for life.
We wouldn’t change that commitment. They deserve it.
But it does mean our resources and funds are tied up long term, and that directly impacts how many new dogs we are able to help.
We are absolutely committed to the dogs currently in our care, and to those we have already said yes to who are waiting to come into care. They are not going anywhere, and we will continue to do everything we can for them.
We will also continue to support people who are seeking to surrender deaf and special needs dogs by offering advice and guidance wherever we can. But right now, we simply cannot take on any more.
Right now, we need to stabilise so we can keep going.
The fastest way for us to move forward and reopen is:
🐾 Foster homes for Georgie and Mario, who are currently in board and training
🐾 Reducing our reliance on paid boarding
🐾 Rebuilding our emergency vet buffer
Fostering has an immediate impact. It reduces costs overnight and helps us get back to a place where we can say yes again.
If you have ever thought about fostering, this is the time. These dogs need you.
If you can’t foster, please help us by donating, sharing, or supporting our fundraising efforts, like our Mother’s Day raffle.

This is not a step back. This is us trying to make sure we can keep showing up for these dogs.
Because right now, every yes matters… and we need to make sure we can keep saying it.
Thank you for always being there for our beautiful dogs and for us.💛🐾
