It’s Dental Month at Cooks Hill Vet Clinic!

Did you know that dental disease is one of the most common health problems we see in dogs and cats? Plaque and tartar can build up over time, leading to painful gums, bad breath, loose teeth and, in more advanced cases, infection and damage to other organs.

Our pets are very good at hiding dental pain, so regular dental checks are important — even if they are still eating normally.

During Dental Month, we’re encouraging all pet owners to take a closer look at their pet’s teeth and book a dental check if you notice:
• Bad breath
• Yellow or brown tartar
• Red or bleeding gums
• Difficulty chewing
• Dropping food
• Loose or missing teeth
• Changes in eating habits

A healthy mouth is an important part of your pet’s overall health and wellbeing.

Due to a positive case of H5 avian influenza in a Giant Petrel at Hawks Nest, we will not be accepting birds into our clinic until further notice as a precaution.

If you find a sick, injured or deceased bird:
❌ Do not touch, handle, or move the bird.
❌ Keep children and pets well away from the area.
