🐾 Let’s talk about Intervertebral Disc Disease (IVDD) 🐾
Has your dog suddenly become reluctant to jump, yelps when picked up, seems wobbly on their feet, or lost the ability to walk?
These can all be signs of Intervertebral Disc Disease (IVDD) — a painful condition where the discs between the bones of the spine bulge or rupture, putting pressure on the spinal cord.
Some much-loved and popular breeds, including Dachshunds, Corgis and Beagles, are more commonly affected, but IVDD can occur in any dog.
⚠️ Signs to watch for:
• Back or neck pain
• Reluctance to jump or climb stairs
• Weakness or wobbliness in the legs
• Dragging the paws
• Difficulty walking
• Crying out
If you notice any of these signs, seek veterinary attention as soon as possible. Early diagnosis and treatment can make all the difference to your pet’s recovery and long-term outcome ❤️🐶
