β˜€οΈ Summer Heat + Short Snouts = Serious Risk β˜€οΈ

As temperatures rise, so does the danger of heatstroke for our furry friends, ESPECIALLY brachycephalic breeds like Bulldogs, Pugs, and Boxers.

πŸ”΄ Dogs don’t sweat like we do. They cool off by panting and through their nasal cavities. But not all noses are created equal!

πŸ“Š As this graphic shows, dogs like German Shepherds have a much larger nasal cavity devoted to cooling their bodies, while flat-faced breeds have much less space to regulate their temperature, which makes them far more prone to overheating.

πŸ’” For brachycephalic breeds, just a short walk in the sun or a few minutes in a hot car can be deadly.

πŸ”₯ Heat Safety Tips:
βœ… Always provide fresh water and shade.
βœ… Avoid walks during the hottest part of the day.
βœ… Never leave your dog in a parked car.
βœ… Watch for signs of heatstroke: excessive panting, drooling, vomiting, lethargy, or collapse.
βœ… Know your breed's limits β€” some can't safely handle heat at all.
