Kip lately 🤎🤍🖤
Little Kip got to experience his first day of motocross yesterday. We practiced “watching” and rewarding the “boring”. Kip was very interested in the bikes but was able to watch without reacting. So lots of praise and reward for the behaviour. It’s so important that young dogs and puppies get exposed to “life” in a safe and positive way, as early on as possible. Socialisation isn’t just dogs meeting other dogs. It’s your dog learning the world and how it works, it’s also our responsibility as owners to ensure we give them the best experiences and teach them how to behave in certain situations. We are here to guide them and ensure they are set up for success 🐾

Training and emergency recall 🚨

In the very early stages I like to train an emergency recall. Not every puppy needs this but it’s a handy tool. Kip is slowly learning to give me his attention and we are building on our connection 👀 we are also working on the “come” cue. It’s been 3 days of gentle training as an introduction but he now understands his name and that come means to come to me. However, he can still get distracted and this is when I can train my ER. I use a very high pitch tone and repeat the same word over and over to be very stimulating and exciting for Kip. I would also begin to move backwards and draw him to me but I was sitting in this video and it still worked great.
He got BIIIIIG pats, praise and reward (food or toy) for coming to me. We had a big play with one of his favourite rope toys after this to really reinforce he was a good boy and make a positive association 🐾🫶🏻

Here’s a few of the new cuties enrolled in Puppy Foundation Course 🐶 🤎 Prac Class 1 complete ☑️ working towards understanding tone of voice, foundations of training and working on cues such as “look”, “leave it” and mat training. Well it’s official, Ted is on big brother duty!! Welcome “Kip” to our family and to the LCCT Team 🐾 🥹🫶🏻 I have waited a very long time to welcome another pooch into our family, and may have shed a few happy tears. We are all absolutely in LOVE and I am very excited to be able to share Kip’s training journey with you all 🐾🩵
