Kip lately ๐ŸคŽ๐Ÿค๐Ÿ–ค
Little Kip got to experience his first day of motocross yesterday. We practiced โ€œwatchingโ€ and rewarding the โ€œboringโ€. Kip was very interested in the bikes but was able to watch without reacting. So lots of praise and reward for the behaviour. Itโ€™s so important that young dogs and puppies get exposed to โ€œlifeโ€ in a safe and positive way, as early on as possible. Socialisation isnโ€™t just dogs meeting other dogs. Itโ€™s your dog learning the world and how it works, itโ€™s also our responsibility as owners to ensure we give them the best experiences and teach them how to behave in certain situations. We are here to guide them and ensure they are set up for success ๐Ÿพ

Training and emergency recall ๐Ÿšจ

In the very early stages I like to train an emergency recall. Not every puppy needs this but itโ€™s a handy tool. Kip is slowly learning to give me his attention and we are building on our connection ๐Ÿ‘€ we are also working on the โ€œcomeโ€ cue. Itโ€™s been 3 days of gentle training as an introduction but he now understands his name and that come means to come to me. However, he can still get distracted and this is when I can train my ER. I use a very high pitch tone and repeat the same word over and over to be very stimulating and exciting for Kip. I would also begin to move backwards and draw him to me but I was sitting in this video and it still worked great.
He got BIIIIIG pats, praise and reward (food or toy) for coming to me. We had a big play with one of his favourite rope toys after this to really reinforce he was a good boy and make a positive association ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿซถ๐Ÿป

Hereโ€™s a few of the new cuties enrolled in Puppy Foundation Course ๐Ÿถ ๐ŸคŽ Prac Class 1 complete โ˜‘๏ธ working towards understanding tone of voice, foundations of training and working on cues such as โ€œlookโ€, โ€œleave itโ€ and mat training.
