So I have to apologise for being absent from messages and emails for a few days!
For those who've been with me a long time, it's probably no surprise (my bad!)
But I thought a little explanation was probably needed. Many of you wouldn't realise I'm actually an introvert, and "peopling" is one of the most draining tasks I can do. Admin is one of my hardest jobs, I would happily saddlefit a 14hr day if I didn't have to come home to the piles of messages and work that it left behind. If you consider that I generally have 20 - 30 people booked in at any one time, plus previous clients asking about options and giving updates, it is a whole lot of "peopling"! If you've ever put off that pile of washing because you'd built it up to be much bigger in your head - that's how I feel about admin. It's a good thing I'm good at the rest of my job 😉
Recently I've been working an extra job and saddle fitting in all my spare time. Factor in a wet and miserable winter, some injured horses and absolutely no time left for my family, ponies or myself; burn out quickly followed.
I could probably take some shortcuts to get everything done, but I'm just not the person who's going to ignore the asymmetric horse or tell you that close enough is good enough. I genuinely do this job because I think it has such a huge impact on horse welfare and I truly just want to help!!
So thankyou to all my long term clients who forgive me for being a little slow 🙌 you guys make this whole thing worthwhile. I do actually love what I do and I don't want to give it up. I do need to consider how I can keep a healthy work/life balance in future as we consider expanding the family 🫣 so if anyone's considering taking on a few hours of admin work... reach out and we can explore how that would even work?!
This weekend I have set up the van with a whole new storage system which I'm excited to share with you! Plus I have taken some time in the sun with my partner and ponies to recharge and reset.
I'm back on the admin tomorrow morning I promise!
