MEET LITTLE ‘BRANDY’ 🐾🐶

Brandy came in for her very first visit - a puppy health check!

Vet visits are a super important opportunity to make sure your puppy is growing and developing well ➡️ 💚checking their heart, lungs, eyes, ears, teeth and overall health and discuss everything from nutrition and parasite prevention to vaccination and socialisation.

Little Brandy is off to a fantastic start and will be back for her next visit and vaccinations as she continues building her protection against preventable diseases.

We’re looking forward to watching this little gorgeous girl grow!

MEET BLINKY 🐑 💚 Enucleation Surgery

We don’t often have a lamb visit us in hospital, so this little patient certainly caught everyone’s attention especially because she belongs to one of our own MVH team members, Em!

After suffering significant damage to her eye, little Blinky underwent eye removal surgery (enucleation). While losing an eye sounds like a big deal, animals are incredibly adaptable, and this little lamb is already getting on with the important things in life; eating, exploring and will get back to joining the flock!

She’s now recovering well with plenty of TLC from Em and a few extra admirers here at Mudgee Vet Hospital.

MEET “AUNTIE” - A Sebastopol Goose 💚🪿

We had a very special visitor waddle into our Rylstone Vet Clinic this week for a checkup with Dr Elle! “Auntie”, an absolutely stunning Sebastopol goose, completely stole our hearts with her long, and curly pristine feathers!

🪶 Fun Fact: Sebastopol’s have a special gland near the base of their tail that secretes a conditioning and waterproofing oil. They work hard to distribute this oil across their gorgeous plummage to protect their skin from moisture irritation. Let’s just say fabulous curls takes maintenance for geese too!

Thanks for visiting us “Auntie” 🪿You’re welcome back anytime!

URGENT NOTICE FOR MUDGEE REGION CAT OWNERS 🐈

Did you know that Australia has one of the highest FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus) infection rates in the world?

Often called “feline AIDS,” this virus severely weakens a cat’s immune system. Tragically, there is no cure, prevention is the only way to protect your cat.

Here is what you need to know about FIV:

What it is: A virus that attacks and damages a cat’s immune system, making it incredibly hard for them to fight off common infections.

How it spreads: The virus is primarily contained and passed on through deep bite wounds, putting outdoor cats and roaming fighters at the highest risk.

How to protect them: Prevention is key, keep your cat indoors or in an enclosure, and ensure they are fully vaccinated against the virus.

To help protect our local feline community, we are currently running a major promotion on our vaccination course:

The Offer: Full course of 3 vital injections for just $74 (usually $222). Be quick as stock is limited!

Next Step: Call our MVH team today to book your cat’s protection course!

HAPPY HORSE’S BIRTHDAY 🐎🎂

Today, August 1st, we want to send a warm shout out to all the wonderful horses, ponies, and owners across our beautiful Mudgee Region.

A Gentle Reminder for Their Care: As our equine friends step into another year, it is a lovely opportunity to check in on their health and comfort ahead of Spring:

Dental Comfort: An annual dental float keeps their teeth smooth, preventing mouth pain and helping them digest their feed easily.

Parasite Care: A simple faecal egg count this month ensures your worming routine is gentle and effective for the season ahead.

Winter Hydration: Keeping horses hydrated on these cold days significantly reduces the risk of colic. Try adding water directly to their feed or warming up their drinking water to help increase their daily intake.

Feel free to reach out to our MVH team if you have any concerns or needing advice.
