Let’s talk winter grooms…

I love a long, fluffy winter clip, but more coat means more maintenance!

Longer coats need more brushing at home, are more prone to matting, and take significantly longer to groom. While it may seem ideal to stretch out appointments to keep your pup warm, longer styles should still be maintained every 3-6 weeks to avoid matting and the possibility of needing a much shorter clip.

From now on, lengths over 16mm will incur an additional fee due to the extra time required for drying, brushing, and sc******ng.

I’ve recently received some health news that will change the way I groom moving forward. I’m now under strict requirements to avoid lifting, holding, and repetitive reaching.

While it’s relatively easy to adjust with smaller dogs, all new large dog bookings will now require a trial groom appointment. These appointments will be booked as longer sessions and will help determine whether I’m able to take your pup on as a permanent client.

I want to make it very clear that this does NOT mean your dog is aggressive, naughty, or difficult. It simply means they may not be suited to my physical limitations at the moment.

For my current clients, this may mean:
• Appointments taking a little longer
• Booking only one larger dog per day
• Scheduling larger dogs when my assistant (aka husband 😅) is available to help
• Occasionally needing help passing your pup to me or helping get them into the bath

This has been devastating news for me, especially after only recently opening my business and being such a big dog girl at heart. 🐾

But without making these changes, I risk needing surgery and potentially being unable to groom long term. My goal is to protect my health now so I can continue doing what I love for years to come.

I’m hopeful this won’t be forever and that things may improve in the future.
