So cold and windy last weekend, and busy! I guess people wanted to get out and have little adventures in the sunshine and fresh air. There were still lovely quiet moments of connection to be found though, like this glorious photo of Obi with his little friend 💕. Afternoons are always quieter, and the light on the trees and mountains is so beautiful 🏔️ 🦌

Amazing metamorphosis happening at the moment - living flesh changing to bone for the Rusa stags. Scroll to see the difference from a few weeks ago! The velvet fur that delivers nutrients to the growing antler over the last few months is not needed anymore, so it is shedding to reveal the new bone underneath. The blood supply to the velvet has stopped, so it is just dead tissue now and rubbing it off is painless (but can look gruesome!) You may be lucky enough to spot the boys during this process when you visit this weekend 🥰

Yes, the sun is out, thank goodness, BUT it has rained for a week and everything is still EXTREMELY muddy! If you are visiting today, please wear boots or old shoes and clothes you don’t mind getting dirty

Johnny found most of the eggs this year, he was very pleased with himself! We are open this weekend as normal, 10am-4pm, if you are looking for little adventures that aren’t too much of a drive!
PS - yes, we will be open on ANZAC Day this year, normal Saturday hours 👍

Hopefully some good weather over the next few weeks! I can’t get any extra time off so I can’t open extra weekdays these holidays, but we’ll be open all of the long weekend and every weekend as normal if you want a mini-country adventure that’s not too far from Brisbane this Easter!

It keeps raining, and then sunshine, and then rolling thunder and dark skies. I’m feeling anxious. The world is unsteady. Glaringly so; right now, you can’t just ignore it and live in a bubble, because bad things are pushing right up against the bubble with sharp edges like fuel costs, hay availability, and interest rates… I sat and watched Buster walk through the sunbeams that glinted on the wet leaves and wet branches. I got a wet bum from sitting on the grass, but that’s not the sort of thing I worry about at the moment…

Yes we will be open today! The sun is trying to come out and dry everything up, but it’s still muddy in spots so wear old clothes and boots if you are venturing out for some fresh air and deer cuddles (exactly what we all need at the moment, right?!)
