Meet Frankie! 🐾

This tiny little Italian Greyhound came in for his vaccination and was quite possibly the cutest little patient we’ve had in our hands! 🥹

Frankie was so teeny, he practically fit in the palm of our hands. 🥰

Safe to say, we were all a little bit obsessed! 💚

Bird flu is making headlines, so Better Homes & Gardens asked Greencross Vets what it means for our pets.

Greencross Vets veterinarian Dr Nina shares practical advice to help pet parents understand the risks and take simple precautions.

“Bird flu can infect all mammals, so dogs, cats, rabbits and ferrets can all be infected.”

From avoiding contact with sick or dead wildlife to keeping cats indoors and dogs on a leash around wildlife, a few simple steps can help reduce exposure.

🖤 A majestic visitor who never should have needed a trip to the vet.

This beautiful black swan was found with a fishing hook stuck in its mouth - a painful and completely preventable injury caused by discarded fishing gear.

Removing the hook required a general anaesthetic, along with pain relief to keep this feathered patient comfortable while we treated them. 🦢

A reminder to all anglers: please take your fishing line, hooks and tackle home with you or use a designated disposal bin. The Victorian Fisheries Authority advises that old fishing line should be placed in bins, or if there are no bins available, taken home, cut up and disposed of in general waste. Their Seal the Loop program also provides dedicated bins for unwanted fishing line, hooks, netting and rope. (VFA)

Discarded fishing gear can cause entanglement, injury and even death to wildlife. A few extra seconds to dispose of your gear properly can make a huge difference. 💔

🎣 Fish responsibly. Dispose responsibly. Protect our wildlife. A big thanks for the wildlife careers for bringing this amazing swan in and thanks to our team for helping 🫶🏼

Fun Scrubs Friday ! 🌈
You’ll notice our team at Greencross Vets Jindalee wearing their brightest scrubs on Fridays, every Friday - why is this you ask ?

We want to bring awareness to Mental Health in the Veterinary industry because on average one Vet dies every 12 weeks to su***de.

Pet ownership in Australia has reached a record 69% which has skyrocketed since the COVID-19 pandemic - That's one vet for every 2,026 pets.

So let’s start the conversation around mental health, and help make lives brighter ✨

We had a very special patient visit our clinic recently - meet Barak the platypus! 💚

Barak attended our clinic with some of his team from Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary. It was so fantastic to see such a special and unique animal up close in our clinic.

Barak is the oldest male platypus ever recorded at 27yo, and we think he looks pretty amazing for his age! Fun Fact - To collect blood from a Platypus you take blood from the tip of their bill.

Here at Greencross Vets Jindalee we have a great relationship with Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary and really respect the work they do with our native wildlife. 🐨🦘

🚨Easter Alert! 🚨

Did you know that Chocolate is toxic to dogs! 🐶

Little Sunny, as pictured, made a paw choice, snacking on some chocolate, but thankfully his owner acted fast! Keep chocolate out of reach, and make sure kids know not to share. If your dog sneaks a treat, contact a vet ASAP.

We hope you have a paw-some Easter! 🐰
