🐍 SNAKE BITE AWARENESS 🐍

With the weather starting to warm up again, it won’t be long before we start seeing more of our slithering friends out and about! ☀️🐍

Snake bites can be life-threatening and require urgent veterinary treatment, so knowing the signs could help save your pet’s life.

Signs of a snake bite can include:
• Sudden weakness or collapse
• Wobbly or unsteady walking
• Shaking or muscle tremors
• Dilated pupils
• Vomiting or excessive drooling
• Weakness or paralysis, particularly of the hind legs
• Difficulty breathing
• Loss of bladder or bowel control
• Blood in the urine
• Sudden deterioration

Sometimes pets may collapse initially and then appear to recover, so even if they seem okay afterwards, they still need veterinary attention.

If you see your pet with a snake or suspect they may have been bitten, contact your veterinarian immediately. Don’t wait for symptoms to become severe.

🐾 Keep a close eye on pets when they’re outside, particularly around long grass, sheds, wood piles and other areas where snakes may shelter.

When it comes to snake bites, early veterinary treatment can make all the difference ❤️

🐾 A little face from our week 🐾

Everybody say hello to Winnie! This sweet little lady visited us recently after feeling a little under the weather. She was very brave while we collected some blood for testing and naturally received plenty of cuddles for her efforts. 🥹🩷

It’s hard being this tiny and brave! 🐶

Dental Month is off to a cracking start… the Tooth Fairy is working overtime 🧚🦷

We’ve already had plenty of teeth that unfortunately couldn’t be saved and needed to make their way out!

While extractions are sometimes necessary, the goal is always to keep as many healthy teeth as possible. Regular dental checks and cleans can help us catch dental disease before it progresses to the point where teeth need to be removed.

It’s been a rough August to be a tooth. 🫡🦷

🦷Healthy teeth, Happy pets 🦷

🐾August is Dental Awareness Month! 🐾

Did you know that by the age of 3, most dogs and cats show signs of dental disease?

Dental disease is one of the most common health conditions we see in pets, and it’s much more than just bad breath. Left untreated, it can lead to pain, infection, tooth loss and can even impact your pet’s overall health.

We use a 4-grade dental disease scoring system to assess your pet’s oral health. This helps us determine the severity of dental disease and recommend the most appropriate treatment to keep their mouth healthy and pain-free.

The best way to protect your pet’s teeth is through prevention:
🦷 Regular tooth brushing with pet-safe toothpaste
🦷 Veterinary-approved dental diets and dental chews
🦷 Routine dental check-ups
🦷 Professional dental cleans when recommended

A healthy mouth means a happier, healthier pet! If you’ve noticed bad breath, difficulty eating, red gums or a build-up of tartar, it’s time to book a dental check 😁

Call the clinic to arrange a dental assessment with our team ☎️

Let’s work together this Dental Awareness Month to keep those tails wagging and those smiles healthy! 🐶🐱💙
