QOTT Retrainer Rebecca Henry

With support funding from Racing Qld's Acknowledged Retrainer Expansion Grant, we were able to purchase suitable horse panels. These horse panels largely contributed towards increasing the number of let down paddocks and replace cattle fencing around the equestrian facilities.

A big heartfelt thank you to Racing Qld and QOTT.

I find flying the flag for our wonderful Off-the-Track Thoroughbreds so easy to do.
In the latest episode of the All Clear Podcast, I join Jo Jennings from Australian Jumping and the conversation easily flows across to my love of the thoroughbreds, and how much I value being a part of the Queensland Off The Track Acknowledged Retrainer Program.

EPISODE 41: REBECCA HENRY | In this week's episode brought to you by Divas Beverages and Horizon Show Jumps we learn all about Rebecca's life on a remote North Queensland cattle station, her experiences in the World Cup arena, and now her role designing courses across Australia and learning internationally, Rebecca’s story is grounded, honest and full of perspective.

We talk about the horses that shaped her, the realities of stepping away from competition, retraining thoroughbreds, and what it really looks like to build a life around horses in a place most riders will never experience.

Did you know...

QOTT provides sponsorship for classes and events across Queensland to benefit OTT horses and their owners?

So nice to have the sun out and shining; I think its fair to say the horses are enjoying the sunshine as well!

Congratulations to Summer Lloyd on successfully stepping I Love RockNRoll up into his first 120cm. An impressive double clear was rewarded with 2nd place, after also jumping clear and winning the 110cm the day before.
Rocky rehomed to Summer in July 2024. She continues to do a great job with educating Rocky into the sport of showjumping. They certainly are an exciting team to watch into the future.

Soaking in the beautiful afternoons here at Sugarbag...

When a horse finds a home with Summer Lloyd they truly are blessed. Back in April the timing was perfect. We had recognised Regal Conquerer to have some super performance ability for the jumping arena, and Summer was looking for another horse to bring on in her team.

This is yet another example of the magic of the QOTT Acknowledged Retrainer Program and we look forward to watching Summer and Mr T progress in the jumping arena.

Thanks once again to Sharlee Hoffman for entrusting me with your horses to begin their life after racing journey.

🏇✨ 'Regal Conqueror' (aka Mr T) made his showjumping debut at the Peachester Lodge Festival of Showjumping in Caboolture and what a star he was! 🌟

🐴 At just 7 years old, this gelding is new to the sport, but he tackled his first competition with style and confidence 💪 Young rider Summer and Mr T entered the 80cm and 90cm classes and had an absolute ball! 🎠

In his racing prime, he had 35 race starts, consisting of 5 wins 🥇 5 seconds 🥈 3 thirds 🥉 and over $125,000 in total prizemoney 💰

From the racetrack to the jumping arena, Mr T is proving he's got talent to burn 🔥 and we’re so excited about his future in showjumping! 💚

I Love Rock'N'Roll, or "Rocky the Rockstar" as we more commonly refer to him now, certainly found a rockstar home with his young rider Summer Lloyd.

Summer purchased Rocky twelve months ago and has been carefully producing him in the showjumping arena. Recently stepping him up into official classes of 105cm & above at shows including Festival of Showjumping at Caboolture as well as the local Northern Run.

The run was finished on a highlight on Tuesday at Charters Towers Show with a very credible 3rd in the Thoroughbred Championship class with a double clear round at 110cm in Open Company.

Congratulations Summer. We are super proud of you and Rocky!

(Thanks also to Summer for sending me a great highlight reel of the TB class)

We do alot of work on creating patience in the horses. This is not unusual to ask a horse to stand by themselves and wait for me while I am doing another job. Great to have my dad as my offsider to help with the horses. It's certainly is a team effort looking after the horses here at Sugarbag.
